About this deal

I'm on this exact deal albeit mine is currently £31.55 for M500 Volt (Because of April increase) but seems good value for those bound by the grip of virgin.

There are other options like £34.50pm with £100 bill credit, but i like keeping my monthly payment down for the whole of the contract, plus lesser increases come next April time, and bill credit doesn't seem as good a deal, maybe just me, anyway, it's here

Moving in a couple of weeks and its a flip between Virgin and plusnet from experience how are Virgin? they always get slated on reviews but offer the best 1gig speeds on paper

Plusnet will be better if you can get full fibre with them. Their Openreach network is more reliable than Virgin's, lower latency than Virgin's, and slightly faster uploads too. Additionally, their customer service is all UK based and is actually pretty helpful if you need support.

Virgin Media's network isn't terrible (IF everything works and goes smoothly!). They are decent for when no other options are available. But as soon as a full fibre provider is available they are unquestionably so much better to go with. The vast majority of their network is aged coax cable infrastructure that was built decades ago to carry TV signal. It's impressive to see that DOCSIS Technology can carry such speed considering it's age, but it's just never going to win against a proper fibre connection.

My contract is nearly up so about to play cat and mouse with retentions (again)... failing that, does it still work if you cancel and your partner signs up for a super deal (new customers only)

Yeah still works, my work colleague had to do that. As they didn't offer him much of a deal via retentions outbound team flight and team.
I usually give my end of contract notice period, and a few days before the 30 days notice period is up call customer service and ask them to get the outbounds team to call me. Which they usually do within a day or two. I got 350gb for 22 originally and with price increase went to £25, which I'm OK with.

Comparison sites say i can get virgin, go to the virgin site and i can't. On the other side of the coin comparison sites say i cant get over 100 on BT, go to BT and i can.
    What fun.

This should be the target price for m500 without volt

agree, especially as lots of fibre companies are doing new customer deals for 1gbit up/down in the £20-30 range

Use the chat facility from your VM account, just renewed mine was £19 a month for 250 plan now renewed at £23 for next 18 months. Cheaper with the landline phone by £2 a month. Yes they are not easy to deal with, I went to EE they made a pigs ear of the installation, lost 5 days without connection and they still want to charge me 2 months for cancelling it.
Yes, I've had a couple of days were there were outages in 18 months but you cannot fault their speed. I consistently get 350mps on speed tests.
