I have virginmedia. Problem with internet for 3 months. They say: very complex issue in the area. Can't cancel without paying early disconnection fee and i'm not getting any compensation either. All their customer support agents are lying week after week and nothing getting done. Worst company on the planet.

Your think that’s bad, British Gas homecare are taking 2 months just to fix a washing machine, there complaints department have closed two complaints without any explanation, all service sectors in the uk has genuinely gone to pot

wouldn't call this a deal even if Virgin Media paid me.

The whole “price rise means you can leave penalty free” thing is going to be taken away.

As per an email they sent me this week -
“From April 2024, we are changing our approach so any price rise to your package is always made at the same time every year, and it’ll be linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation plus an additional 3.9%, so the amount of any increase will be clearer, sooner. To do this, we need to change our terms and conditions. The key features of these new rules are:

This annual price increase is provided for in your terms, there is no right to cancel given for this price increase from April 2024.

These changes to your terms and conditions will come into effect from 1st May 2023, even though the first price rise they relate to won't be until April 2024. “

I called up and got gigabit internet for £26 and 50gb Sim for £15, she then offered a £6 monthly rolling credit to make the internet £20 (I just asked nicely). I then cancelled the o2 part and now I am left with gigabit internet for £20 per month all in. (edited)

Would have thought the BB deal would be conditional upon an ongoing mobile part

VM have been awful ever since Richard Branson sold it to the American company, Liberty Global. Hate having to waste time at the end of each contract haggling for a better offer!
Experienced reached tipping point when i was cut-off twice when stating i wanted to cancel!!

Finally left for Plusnet (better contact length - 2yrs, plus cheaper tariff after offer period which is useful if you forget to renegotiate!)

You may want to learn your history Branson didn't fully own them it was a naming rights deal which as he does starts to exploit for his own gains later on merging more companies before selling.

The companies has always been like this the differences being people report online every issue plus a larger customer base plus ofcom have allowed them to get away with not opening up the network for others.

This is a good deal price wise

Plusnet can't get speeds near this

    £28 + £10 = £38 is plusnet price for speeds only upto 80mbs

I've just moved to BT 900mb for £41/pm from Virgin M500 which I was paying £40pm for

Does this only work if you're already an O2 customer?
    KodaBear's avatar
No. You sign up for an o2 SIM as part of the offer here. You can sign up as an entirely new customer.

Every time my contract ends, I take a new one out with Virgin in a different name to gain offers for new subscribers.

I’m assuming you wouldn’t be able to get the speed upped to the next band (1130mb) via volt, as this offer appears to already have the volt upgrade baked in….

I signed up new contract in December for 18months.. will I have price rise as well. If so will it be on full 1gb package cost or % on discount price I pay? No emails yet to me from virgin
    apollob94's avatar
if you didn't get e-mail then you're not affected by the price hike, but it's best to ask them just in case.
