Just but this instead, it's cheaper

    Seagate Exos X20 16TB internal hard drive ST16000NM000D 3.5" HDD SATA3 7200RPM 256MB (Refurbished) amzn.eu/d/e…ohG

I got one at £199 with six power cycles and zero hours

I've got one of these (not a recertification) for my media drive connected to nas. Its a bit slow when loaded with TBs of data but all around its been reliable and would recommend. (edited)

Does anyone know if the 12tb is cmr or smr? Also can it be shucked? (edited)

It can be shucked and it should be cmr from what some other comments on previous deals were saying

similar to what I received. Just wonder if these info would be reset in the recertification process?

Was about to spring for a 12TB (new) from Amazon at £217. Bit nervous about the recertification but an extra 4TB and £40 less it's probably worth the risk. Thanks for the post.

broadly i trust these recerts more than i do recerts from amazon or whatever. being done in house by WD and getting at least a year warranty somewhat soothed me.

Does anybody know about access times on these? I have a 8gb one and from rest it can almost take a half a minute to a minute to boot to access which is alot more then my 4gb one. Is that normal with these and would this one take longer ? Thanks
    JoeSpur's avatar
There is no guarantee for access times on a shucked white label drive, it will vary depending on model. The average speed will be what you get from the drive when in the enclosure and connected via USB.

The discount code doesn't work for me.

It gives a price of £199.99 saying that the original price of £311.99 has been discounted to £199.99.

Or, if you apply the TECHRADAR10 code, it says "This promotion applies on the Original Price. Any product discount will be removed. This Coupon code may not be stackable with other Coupon code..." And then calculates thus: £311.99-31.19=£280.80
