I have a Dell 7320 Detachable and the Kioxia Drive in it is painfully slow 1,900 Read 900 Write. So looked around for replacement. (These drives fit Steam Deck and also MS Surface devices BUT please double check)
I looked at Samsung PN991a which is rubbish speed wise.
Then Found this WD SN740 please be CAREFULL and don't order the SN530 which is slower.
This drive from WD website claim 5,400 Read and 4,900 Write.
I chose the 1TB because it is the fastest of the range withe the 2tb much more expensive and slower and the 256Gb and 512Gb considerably slower.
I got the deal from Aliexpress with guaranteed 11 day delivery (All thou it very wooly when the clock starts) i usually get things between 9 and 15 days and its free.
It has ?? 5 year warranty with Western Digital and I have claimed successfully before from WD on another object couple of years ago from Aliexpress no problem as you can use things like DiskCrystal to get all the specs like build date.
I use a Credit Card like Amex for added protection.
The Price also includes UK VAT so no issues there.

This is going to be removed in a few minutes but if anyone spots it before then I can absolutely vouch for this store. Arrived in a week, great price, product is working perfectly and seems legit. Tested pretty extensively at this point.

I also bought the 2Tb from this store, installed and working, serial number checked, all seems to be legit. Zero warranty, of course...

Don't forget 4% TopCashBack, you may indeed get 2Tb for less than £100...

I picked up one of these the other week, and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed all told. It runs hot, and when I say hot, I mean like unable to rest my hand properly on the right side of the Deck hot. The temps it kicks up to and the fan going nuts too.

I checked my installation, everything was fine, no pinched wires, or thermal sleeve inserted wrong, etc and still it ran hot AF. Soon as I put my old stock back in, heat was back to normal. Baffled to say the least, unless it's a dodgy drive to begin with.

Now, I've tried to get them to refund me and they want me to send it via FedEx or UPS back to them, and they'll give me a voucher for the cost of shipping!

This has to be one of the biggest nightmares I've had recently buying anything. I know ymmv, but for me, it's been anything but a "bargain".

Anyone want a WD paperweight? Good price, won't burn a hole in your pocket... Maybe

Did you formally test it in a reproducible way? Or have any numbers? Did the fan kick up sitting on Steam landing page for instance?

My fan runs on high all the time but I'm using it as. Windows desktop now and it's been a while since I used it before that so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I'd like to see if I'm in a bad situation now...

I notice it says amongst others, Support for "CFE Camera Card".
Does this mean I can just shove it into my Sony Alpha camera which takes "CF Cards", or even use it in my iPod Mini Gen2 which is currently using a CF Card?

CF cards are Compact Flash cards. This is not a Compact Flash card.

50489442_1.jpgThis is what a CF card and its connector looks like.

50489442_1.jpgThis is what the connector on this NVME card looks like. It's pretty obvious it's not compatible with CF card sockets. (edited)

I had ordered mine from this store last week but on its way to me now.
Had paid under £50, so if you're not on rush keep checking their listings and every often you find it at lower price than this.

I paid just over £100 inc VAT for the 2TB version. It’s arrived today but I haven’t fitted it into the ROG Ally yet…

I've seen more of these mini nvme fail than any 2242 nvme drives. And they've all been western digitals, also mostly in Dell laptops

Arrived yesterday, put in a USB caddy and checked with CrystalDiskInfo and tested with CrystalDiskMark and RMPrepUSB with no errors, not sure if it is worth testing with h2testw as well.

The only slight concern is WD warranty check using the serial number looks like it should be 512GB rather than 1TB? But is reporting as 1TB and the RMPrepUSB test ran fine. WD site says following description:
    "SDDPTQD-1T00,PCIe NVMe 1T00,Polaris+, BiCS5 512Gb eX3 2P,M.2 2230,16D,Vulcan PC SN740,non-SED,Generic" (edited)
