Thinking of buying to upgrade a 64gb steamdeck.

For someone that hasn't messed about with computer components since about 2010, how tricky is the installation?

I'd say its pretty easy, there are some pretty solid guides. The biggest issue is opening it up and not damaging the clips but that is fairly easy with the right tools. Take a look at:

Honestly if you are not comfortable with that then I'd just get a SD card. More expensive obviously but the performance is very close for most titles.

I bought this drive from AliExpress a few months ago. Arrived quickly without fuss. Fitted it in my OLED Steam Deck. Drive works perfectly and actually shows an improvement in speed over the standard drive in benchmarks.

I have the 2TB versions of this, one in ROG ally and the other in my Flow Z13 Laptop, works really well. The storage size is around 1.81 TB, so this may be around 0.9 TB

Same as in my ROG Ally. All working fine and delivery took under a week.

Looks like it is out of stock. The product page says that it can't be shipped to the UK.

I went for the 2tb version from another seller, £106 all in. Didn't think that was too bad.

If I'm opening the steamdeck up, might as well go bigger and only have to do it once.
