Just a heads up . I bought this bike last year for £725 on sale . I`ve always been a fan of Whyte bikes for being good quality. However after 4 months of very little use over the Winter due to health reasons and my bikes are always it kept indoors .I went out on it and it was making terrible grinding noises when turning , when I got it home I stripped the headset and the bearings were bone dry . There was no sign of grease in them at all and there was no rust/grease stain on the steerer tube or inside the headtube so it hadn`t washed out in the rainy weather . So if you buy one ,especially online ,get it checked over by a competent cycle mechanic just to be safe. In the end I replaced the headset cage bearings with new Aheadset with cartridge bearings, as the lack of grease had caused some minor pitting in the bearing races . Really on a bike with an rrp of £1250 a cartridge bearing Aheadset should be standard kit. Other than that it is a fantastic bike , i`ve been using mine most days and have just fitted a dropper post on it. I`d certainly buy it at this price and to be honest any bike could get through the production process with something being missed , it shouldn`t happen but it does. So just be aware.

I wouldn’t be too worried about headset bearings. I’d rather the manufacturer send the bearing budget to the bottom bracket and rear hub. Takes a few minutes to strip the headset and press grease into the races

Went in here for the first time yesterday, what an amazing place to view bikes. Plus the fact they just leave you alone until you ask them something.

So many good models of bikes though it's confusing, did see this one too and looked great.

Ouch! I paid £879 for this bike a couple of months ago. Replaced a Kona 29 hybrid with it. Amazing price for a nice bike and although I wish I’d never scene this post - have some heat!

OP, you should put the rrp in the post. Good deal.

Need a bike, do i or dont i. All i know about bikes is they require round wheels

What do you need the bike for? Are you going to start regularly going off road on tracks and downhill? If so then this might be just the ticket. If its mainly for around town and occasional trail riding then this isn't what you need.

Hi combat, thanks....maybe go on some dirt trails with my boy which will have some gradual hills. I am a very inexperienced biker but id likr something half decent and light as i am only small. Wont be going on roads tbh.....maybe i am better wjth a hyrbid, thanks

Last year's model. I paid this for it in January so not the best deal

Is it not a competitive deal? Does it matter its last years model? Just curious, ta

This is a really good price for this bike. Before discounters got hold of it, this would sell at RRP*. Not sure where Whyte are going with their brand, but still this is a good buy if you want a trail orientated hardtail. Pretty slack at the front though, so not the best if you should really be buying a 700c hybrid;)

*well, at least they did pre 2020 before the bike industry slapped 30-40% on average pricing. Now everything is just on permanent sale (edited)

Agreed. They make great bikes but now seem a tad overpriced. On sale they are a bargain, I've just ordered the above
