Review

Few things to consider before you go ahead:
  • Pay by credit card or PayPal (if the option available) so you could be protected in the case if something goes wrong
  • Likely you will have a non-UK charger, and you will need an adapter or an adapter will be attached to your order
  • Use a fee-free card and pay in USD to save a bit more
  • Delivery can sometimes take a long time

I'd steer clean of cutesliving, I had a dispute with them and they provided false photos of a delivery to another house. They lied constantly. Probably be fine but if anything goes wrong - good luck.

I've had the old version of this (AX1800) for about 3 years to boost the WiFi from my ISP Router. Works really well and gets the signal all around my home. I now have a Xiaomi BE3600 as my main router . The beauty of these Xiaomi routers is you can pair them in mesh mode , so my old AX1800 is now a mesh node. Works better than I could have hoped giving a good signal right down to the bottom of my garden. The AX3000 in the offer can also be used as a mesh node with other Xiaomi routers so at this price if you need a mesh system you could get one or two of these.
These are Chinese versions but are easy to set up using Google translate.
Use code UKAP02 (£2 off £19+ spend) to purchase a second router if required. (edited)

I have a Tenda Nova MW3 AC1200 3-pack bought many years ago. Been working fine but recently I found the speed to have dropped a lot. Can anyone advise on a new mesh which will be an improvement from what I have got? The main module is downstairs and signal is not very strong at the back of the house or upstairs. Thanks in advance for any feedback! (BTW voted hot on this (y))

The main module should be placed in a good position. Also start by changing the WiFi channel. Perhaps there's interference or neighbour nearby on same channel. Also check it's not your internet line that's gone slower which has nothing to do with WiFi or other devices that maybe be using it that will make it seem slower. Check for firmware updates and also give it a reboot. (edited)

Is this a mesh system? I have virgin media wifi 6

you can add access points, its not mesh. I had one of these a while back, they're really powerful. Great value for money.

So what's the point using it in uk?

I don't use the Miia app, and I can translate Chinese. (edited)

    That's brilliant, mate!
Paying that way is the best.
So, you are happy with them, right?

Sometimes, something is too cheap. Wondering if it would explode into flames?
    sc597's avatar
No I'm sure it will be safe electrically. You are going to have the irritation of an EU to UK plug convertor though and I find these can be a bit iffy if not secure.
  14. benfromlondon's avatar
Probably a super basic question... Worth getting this over BT Wholehome Discs for my flat? I get massive drop off of speed further away from my router and have been looking for an upgrade.
    yorkie12's avatar
If your ISP router is poor for WiFi you could try just buying one of these and connect to your router with Ethernet cable.
  15. Calumt's avatar
Have they fixed security issues on the ax series
    OpportunistMe's avatar
Are you referring to the ios14 and some new operatingsystems where the OS considers that the latest WPA3 and WPA2 AES to havesecurity issues? The fix as of now is to modify and change the wirelesssecurity to WPA2-PSK & AES for both the bands (2.4 & 5) and reboot the all therouters/access points for all the clients to reconnect.

Good deal. I've just bought the similar Tenda MX12 (a three pack) for slightly more than this deal, might be worth a look if for whatever reason you don't want to go Xiaomi. I went with Tenda as I've had good experiences with my older MW6 mesh devices.

Do they max out at 256 aswell

I have the ax6000, open-wrt can be installed and working brilliantly, it's a few quid more but well worth it
  20. jackr1's avatar
Had the ax3600 for a couple of years, with both Chinese and international firmware. You can also install openwrt onto it which I did do but I didn’t really understand Openwrt so left it at that. Range is great standard though so probably fairly similar to this
    WhaleTrain's avatar
Where did you source the int. firmware and OpenWRT firmware as I can't seem to find a solid source?
  21. Netherspark's avatar
I think it's probably a bad idea to buy a router without a digital phone port, or you'll be left having to replace it or buy an expensive adapter when the analog phone service is shut down next year (assuming you care about having a working landline phone). (edited)
