Sky Q Freeview Box

Hello people,

After some advice.

Cancelled Sky Q but would like to keep the free terrestrial channels.

Know that you can use the older Sky boxes for freeview, can you buy the Sky Q one without the subscription?

I'm certain Sky will be asking me to send this box back.

Thanks.

Sky Q Equipment remains the property of Sky at all times and must be returned to them when you leave.

The box would also be useless unless you subscribed to Sky Q Lite to get the free channels, apps and ability to record. They used to sell it for £5 a month but it's not £15 at the moment I believe.

The old Sky + HD Boxes won't work with the dish and LNB that Sky Q uses. The only Freesat box that works with the Sky Q dish is the new Arris Freesat 4K Boxes. CeX tend to sell them for reasonable prices.

Other than that, you would be looking at getting an aerial installed and going down the Freeview route, or streaming TV via the likes of Virgin Media Stream or BT TV (If you have their broadband and opt to get the TV from them)

When you send them back ensure you keep any receipts.

With both my Q box and modem (Sent on two separate occasions) about 6 weeks later they tried to charge me for non return.
Luckily I'd kept photos of all tracking.

You’ll shortly receive a box to send it all back.
