No, it is not free for 12 months. There is always a catch. Read here: sky.com/pag…ree
EDIT : 5 months free only but I think you have to sign up for a year so pay for the next seven months. Swindlers. (edited)

You have done well there and it is nice of you to let others know of this free 2gb per month for 12 months for VIPs. I will try for the same and let you know how I get on. Many thanks.
EDIT : I tried but they wouldn't give it to me for 12 months, only 5. I think it all depends on what other things you have with SKY. (edited)

As far as I am aware, all SKY sims come with unlimited calls and unlimited texts.

So we'd actually have to ring Sky up, cancel or threaten to cancel our Sky package, and then hope we get offered this Sim deal? (edited)

Actually not too bad an offer if you think about it deeply! You get 24gb for an outlay of £42 over one year. Now this amount of data can stay in your piggy bank for upto 3 years to be used as and when you feel like it. Say if you had the 100mb sim from before in your main account, you can transfer some or all of the 24gb to be used any time doing three years.
Compable prepaid data sims costwise on 3UK and EE last upto 2yrs and 1yr respectively.
Please correct me if I am wrong in my thinking.
