sorted by- Ordered and received it yesterday. Already set up everything and I have to say this is a great machine for this price. Cant get better specs for 230 quids as new. For basic tasks, everyday use this is ok and fast enough. What amazon does not say and pics are misleading are: No microSD slot, no backlit keyboard, no fingerprint reader. Screen is FullHD but TN, not IPS. Mediocre and not the sharpest one, washed out a bit. Speakers are working. That is the best what I can say about them. Sounds like someone speaks under the sea in a tank.....Keyboard is mediocre as well, not that bad but that one and the chassis feel cheap a bit although built quality as a plastic cased laptop is nice. Lightweight as well and has small form factor. Memory is 4 gb onboard as soldered + 4 gb upgradable (up to 16 gb, ddr4 3200 mhz). Wifi card is Realtek RTL8821CE, ac, BT 5.0, 1*1. Average. Not the fastest one as speed is 433 mbps. But this one is upgradable as well. Also has an empty space for HDD, but sata cable (and optional caddy) will be needed to install inside. Battery is really new now but with light use, medium brightness I could read articles on web for about 4-5 Hrs. Battery life is gonna be below average I guess.
SSD is WD SN530, 256 gb, 2500/950 read/write speed, tested.
All in all, beside cons this is a great entry level laptop. (edited) - Does anyone know if this laptop would be OK if my daughter wanted to play theme park on it? She mainly wants a laptop for surfing the Internet and doing homework etc but mentioned the other day she wants to play theme park on it too. She is only 11 so I do not want to spend fortunes but also do not want to waste my money if it won't do what she wants.Yes it would
- I also have this laptop would never buy it again, many issues with screen, sound and fan asus customer service are beyond terrible. Bought a lenovo thinkpad which was cheaper and much easier and better to useLike me I've got a 12 year old Dell Laptop. I hardly use it. Kind of going strong but only works if I keep the battery on charge. I'm in the market for a new laptop, I don't intend on using it often but I will hold out for a new Dell because of how robust they are
- Does anybody know if this laptop would be adequate for editing photographs ?It would be adequate for basic editing, but you would definitely need a monitor, the screen on this laptop won't be colour accurate at all.
- A very budget CPU, the slowness of vitually everything will drive you mad. It's a 3 year old processor with a benchmark of 5043. Running W11 with 8GB of RAM and a solid state drive, this should be absolutely fine. It's not going to make a great gaming laptop but you're not going to expect that at this price. Great deal in my opinion.
- tempted but Black Friday coming up hoping for a reduced i5 or something similarIts returnable untill 31st Jan 2023. Bought it. If anything better turnes up, easy return
- [deleted]Just my opinion; I think this i5 for £50 more is a better value buy with twice the SSD capacity and a significantly faster CPU.
johnlewis.com/asu…unt - Also 15 inch is too bigBought it just because I hate my 14 inch laptop with my ageing eyes.
- For people wanting to know a bit more about laptops. The best part of this is the SSD. A traditional HD would slowly die over time, I just did a total wipe of a 6 year old laptop for a friend with a disk drive and it was still slow.
I have a 5 year old budget laptop with an 256gb SSD and it still boots up instantly and runs office, skygo etc.
SSD memory doesn't degrade, it only dies. So it either turns on or it doesn't. Try and keep it leas than 70% full for optimum performance.
This will run office, movies etc with no problems. Games wise, roblox, fortnite on low settings (possibly) or games older than 10 years, maybe. Don't expect much from this.
For my daughter for homework and netflix etc, perfect. (edited)It will deffo run fortnite... I had Fortnite running fairly good on a 3rd gen i3 at the weekend 🙈 - Defo this
- I have one of these and would not buy again, arrow keys split very quickly, suffer a problem with screen hinges that are plastic and break easily so mine is hanging by a connector, noisy fan and underpowered
Battery life also poor, 3 hours no gaming just browsing (edited)How long did you have it for? - Anyone know if this is one of these laptops where you need an engineering degree to install new ram or a hard driveThe P52 seems to have a load of easy upgrade options, somebody posted a vid on the thread, maybe check for when they are back in stock
- Got mine earlier, build not great, it's ok, but a bit flimsy, never worth the RRP, also worth noting it comes pre-installed with windows 11-S, which is the cutdown version, and it won't allow you to install programs like Adobe reader as it's not in the Microsoft store, but it guides you to get the full version, which I have done, never used windows 11, first impression, I prefer 10, but takes getting used to I suppose, Start is placed in the middle and can't be moved, but have to move with the times. For the price it is ok.You can easily move Start menu icons from thw middle to the left side as normal. Right click on tray and you can personalise that.

- Perfect for primary and secondary kids and home light use (edited)
- Does anyone know if this charges via type cno
- My Asus plastic frame is literally falling apart, it is 10 years old though, still just about boots and works for the kids homework. Much prefer my metal framed work laptop, dropped that from 6ft flat onto tarmac and all that happened was the case scuffed. Different price points though!
- Very good laptop for day to day work. I found it can be used as a gaming rig with Xbox cloud gaming with a strong internet connection
- I’m absolutely clueless with laptops, will this be any good for Minecraft and roblox? Many thanksYes, it would be fine.
- Wanted to ask if anyone else is getting a buzzing noise on the left side of the laptop? It's very quiet but consistent. Is this totally normal? ThanksNo noise whatsoever, but very silent noise is normal due fan is working. (edited)
- Is this IPS or TN?TN.
- I commented on the battery life and my comments got deleted. You get 4 ~ 5 hours of browsing from full battery. It's also too big. How are you expected to lug a 15.6 inch screen around trains and airports???It's almost as if there are people who might want a laptop for uses other than carrying round trains and airports... (edited)
- £24.79 for two years accidental & theft insurance on this isn't bad either. I was looking for a 15.6" screen at a decent price so thanks.Seriously worth thinking about seems your saving BIG.Normally i wouldnt fall for the extra cost but if i was buying it its almost a no-brainer.
- ips or tn screen anyone know?Yes
- What a time to be alive...a decent all round laptop that does what 90% of most people need for 230 quid. You won't be running the latest games on high settings, but most casual titles will run just fine.Everyday stuff should be OK too.Exactly people complaining about a £230 laptop but they'll easily spend over £1,000 on the new Apple iPhone
- Thanks ordered two for my husband and I as our Christmas presents 🎁. Thanks heat added.Would also run the gov's track n trace 'system'..or to be exact, spreadsheet....
- Is this any good.... genuine question... need one for the teens... they have a 7ish year old i5, 8gb ram, ssd Dell and i get constant moaning about speed and boot up times.... TBF.... boot up is slow even after re-install etc.... minutes....
Will this make a real world difference or am i just purchasing something here which woudl perform similarly due to it being an i3 and not an i5....Reset windows or wipe and reinstall - Would have gone for this but the power connector is located on left side, so when i have it plugged in it will have to bend all the way around, doesn't seem like a good idea.No. I can’t believe the manufacturer did not take into account rectangularcuboid’s specific use case. What were they thinking?
- Ordered. Seems a good price for what I need it for (10yr old doing homework and playing Roblox) Thanks OPJust had to say your profile pic reminds me of "the spiffing brit"
- I appreciate all the comments on this laptop, I’ve been looking for a cheap laptop for over a year but put it off due to wanting to buy a first property and so after finally being able to buy anything else again, I quickly got two of these for me and the hubby as our old 2014 dells had definitely done there time and we don’t really do much on the computer anyways and to see the heat on this make me feel good
- Great deal, this machine is perfect for general use and it will not be slow.
- Is this any good for Football manager?Yes my question is, can I run every league available and a large database
- Is this more powerful than the Lenovo p52 posted earlier
- Will this run and playback long videos without freezing and stuttering ? and what do I look for on laptops to ensure sure videos don’t struggle to playback ? Thanks guysYes because the length of the video isn't important. The resolution and other qualities are what can make it more computing intensive to watch.
The laptop is 1080p and for that video quality it will be fine for playback. - Good enough for uni and computing degree??AuthorGood enough for writing essays/word documents, probably not for running code
- I checked Amazon's agai. And it seems they changed the title including exact model number finally which iz 2xactly the same like Argos'
- Would this be able to run flight simulator?Don't see why not...you don't need high FPS and this has enough grunt for it
- Posted earlier today but not sure if it was from amazonIt was
- Yes, this was posted earlier. Purchased 🏻
- IT Zoo alternative with i7 looks slightly better dealWhich one ?
