Update 2
New deals are in, expired are out.
Hi folks,

I was thinking about another Megathread just before Xmas and after Black Friday.
Looks like a mega one about monitors could be a handy one.
Will update this regularly, and we can compare the latest and greatest offers we have around this time of the year. Yeah, the best time of the year!
I made the main categories by size, but if you would like to see a dedicated category, please let me know!

I remember we had a massive deal for the Dell 27" Gaming Monitor - G2722HS
and many said the HD wasn't good enough for the 27" size. Well, I wish we will have something great for the QHD area as well.

    Hi Folks.

IF your looking for monitors my advice is PCPP
It covers every single seller in the market, and ive give u the direct link to the uk link.

so its set as price low to high.

    on the site menu:
    Screen size options.
    resolution:
    HD 1080 is 1920x1080
    QHD 1440 is 2560x1440
    UWQHD is 3440x1440
    4k is 3840x2160

if we click on 2560x1440 would give u this for example: 1440 link

personal take the ratings with a pitch, not used correctly throughout the site, more deep web search on reviews across.
but from this u can check the cheapest deals, then look at specific on sizes, type of screen, refresh rate. (edited)

I've got the Dell 32 Curved Gaming Monitor S3222DGM and it's a cracking monitor - I would very much recommend it if you can get it at a good price, mine was £237.08 after the discount I got on it through StudentBeans (possibly Top Cashback too).

Regarding Dell monitors, here is a 10% off single-use code for all SE, S, U, C, E and P series monitors - NN4N2J7T7P69$B - StudentBeans says I can generate a new one every hour, so if you would like one please DM a request. Top Cashback are currently doing 7% cashback on Dell monitors too (NB - it may not work with student discount codes though)

    [Update] and more single-use codes:
    - from UniDays - KF7DRN9$KV22NR
    - from Totum - WN$ZTNRLLNPF7W

    just some monitor basics

buy monitors with an IPS Panel amazing viewing angles and vibrancy but slightly slower than TN panels

    monitor size guide

    24 inch 1080p
    27 inch 1440p
    28+ inch 4k

this is because the PPI ( pixels per inch) become too high and you lose out on clarity

    some recommendations

AOC 24G2U 1080p 144hz IPS panel can be had for 150£

LG 27GP850 1440p 144hz IPS monitor can be had for 250-300£

M28u 4k 120hz ips montior supports HDMI 2.1 for xbox and ps5 can be had for 400£
    roscoe2000's avatar
Any links to the m28u for £400?

    Thanks

"Best" is very subjective depending on the intended use. Do you need colour accuracy for image editing, or fast response times for gaming? Maybe ergonomics and viewing angles for multiple users at once? This all needs considering before making a purchase. There are significant differences between TN, VA, IPS and OLED panels as well.

So many to choose from! Looking for a monitor for my work laptop and one that my son can play his Xbox one mainly Fortnite. Ended up going for this at £119.99:

Lenovo D27-30 27 inch FHD with Eyesafe Monitor (VA Panel, 75Hz, 4ms, HDMI, VGA, AMD FreeSync) - Adjustable Tilt Stand amzn.eu/d/a…oDj

I bought the Dell 27" 1080p IPS game monitor after it was posted here and went HOT. There were some negative reviews...it isn''t 4k, not QHD...Pixels are clunky..doesn't cook breakfast etc. Glad to say they were all nonsense and I am happily using it now. Brilliant deal at £129....thank you HUKD Lurvvvely......

Can anyone recommend a 24" 1440p monitor? Struggling to find one for reasonable money.
    Bungey_Jump's avatar
24" 1440p is very pixel dense, 27" 1440p is a more natural looking size and I'd really recommend it if you can fit it, it's the ideal screen size spot for 1440p imo

I’m in the market for a 4K 28 inch monitor I can use for work but occasional gaming, looking at around £200 so 60hz is going to be my max but hoping for something with semi-decent HDR. Would be good to have a 4k category
    shappinbegs's avatar
I don't think you'll get decent HDR in that price range but you might get some form of HDR

Personally I wouldn't go OLED yet on PC monitors unless you're HDR gaming there's little point. They're still using TV panel OLEDs rather than dedicated OLED monitor panels. These will arrive around the second half of 2024.

Text looks bad on the QD-OLED Ultrawides such as the Alienware.

Prices went *up* on black Friday for this

See my post below. Dell 27 inch monitor at Amazon for £259, can’t beat it IMHO. Same panel inside as the LG Ultragear 850 which is one of the best you can get.

I am looking for a 4k ips monitor for gaming. I'm looking to spend around £250 (obviously 60Hz is fine). Any suggestions?

Edit: I would also consider raising the budget and getting a small 4k TV if it had decent response times. (edited)

Samsung G70A is epic, had mine for 6 months now and can’t complain! samsung.com/uk/…xu/ any monitor that can take full advantage of the Series X capabilities will need to have HDMI 2.1 and at least 4k @120hz

do you mean colour profiles? try rtings for the individual monitor but each panel will be different, the profile will be in the "post calibration" section (edited)

    Nice thread thanks. Heat added.

I went for one of these Dell QHD gaming monitors, fantastic screen, identical to the LG 850, just hoping it comes before Christmas.

How have people been with WFH, currently use a 34" Ultrawide which is fine. Seen desks for people using a 38 or even 42" monitor for their WFH.

I dont game as much but what would be a good balance?
    Questions4you's avatar
Schizophonic - I've been working from home since the original lockdown. I use a my laptop plugged into a hub with 2 HDMI port which both have a 23" screen connected. This gives me 3 screens which I find a better configuration than a single large screen. I can leave the email and chat stuff on my laptop screen and work on the other 2 screens.

Haven't read the whole thread, but can recommend the electriQ 43"

I'm using a Kensington doc which connects to and powers my MacBook Pro.

Rectangle app great for splitting screen and I tend to have main window in the middle and then stuff on both sides.

If anyone is in the market for a brilliant monitor (mainly for Mac's but they work well with PC's too) the LG 27" 5K Ultrafine monitors are still on offer at Costco £749.99 delivered plus 2 year warranty:

    kiranmk2's avatar
Sadly there has been very little development of HiDPI screens (DPI >200 ppi) over the last few years: only these older LGs and Apple's expensive 5K and 6K screens. All the manufacturers seems to be chasing refresh rate over resolution/DPI. Even the 5k2k ultrawides are only ~160 ppi at 34" and the latest 40" models lower this even further. I would love a 34" ultrawide with a 6880x2880 resolution (i.e. an Ultrawide 5K) but I can't see anything like that in the offing for 2023.

Depends what you play. If you play a lot of horror games or dark games you may find some difference. Tbf if it's only occasional gaming probably not worth it
