I've had this type for years and they have never let me down, only issue with them is they can scratch the frame which I solve with a bit of old cloth between the bracket and frame

    A £16 Rolson bike rack,
For a bike worth at least 10 times that,
    With their legendary quality,
    What were they thinking?

i bought a cheap bike rack. Was driving when my bike flipped onto its side.

From that point on, I decided to buy decent brand and my thule has lasted and just looks so much better quality and construction.

I had a Thule carrier let go on me the other week, I’d borrowed 2 from a mate and one decided to loosen its attachment to the rails. Never had that problem with my cheap halford skids that I used for a couple of years.

There’s nothing wrong with cheap bike carriers - it’s hardly rocket science. Just need to evaluate the quality on its merits with these rebrands.

The key with all things attached to the outside of your car is to keep checking at intervals and check the state of them every time you use them so you’re able to catch issues before they’re catastrophic. (edited)

Given your comments about the bad quality of this and the potential danger, I am going to ask the moderators to remove this deal.

What's needed to understand about rolson is that they make nothing, not even commission it. They just source stuff and have their name put on it. Lots of it is tat, but I have had some decent stuff.
This looks like generic roof attachment, I've had very similar for decades, not let me down. But if you can afford better go for it.

My personal experience, please don't buy. Got this for my Volvo over lockdown when we all had the craze, I was a lucky man and someone gifted me their old bike (which was a decent brand and worth a few hundred £).

Now, my car isn't new but it's not too old either, and I do like it and take care of it. This rack did the first 2 journeys okay, but on the 3rd the bike fell off the rack on the duel bypass. I was lucky it was quiet, and I wasn't going super fast. Bike was a writeoff, and damaged the roof on my car.

Pilot error? Maybe, but this thing is flimsy as...Anyways, bought a new bike with my hard earned, and bought a thule one instead. Yes, it costs over a £100, but it's not failed me yet. The sheer thought of my bike coming off the rack on the motorway and smashing into a car was enough of a threat as is.

My 2 pence, don't buy this.

Rolson and Premium are two words that should never share the same sentence.

I often wondered if you could attach a folded pram frame on these somehow.
Bloody thing takes up so much bootspace it's better off outside the car.
Sounds silly, but im curious to know if anyone tried?

Surely put it on the roof bars that you need to attach the bike racks to?

Should be laws to stop bad quality items like this. Could cause serious injury.
