Seems like a great deal to me, it's about £250 cheaper than RRP. It's £150 less than the Debut Carbon Evo, but has the upgraded acrylic platter. It also has the same Ortofon Red 2m cartridge as the more expensive Evo.

Comes with a 2 year warranty.

Make vinyl part of your Sonos experience when you connect this turntable to Amp, Five or Port. The harmony of Pro-ject's turntable expertise coupled with Sonos' wireless components makes for an awesome listening experience.

The Debut Carbon Esprit Phono SB turntable takes the hugely successful, multi-award winning Debut Carbon design and adds even more to the already impressive package. On top of the impressive feature set of the standard Debut Carbon DC, including the stunning carbon fibre tonearm and Ortofon 2M Red cartridge combination; the Esprit SB version also benefits from an intuitive speed controller for effortless changing between 33 and 45rpm. The Debut Carbon Esprit Phono SB can also spin at 78 RPM by manually switching the drive belt to the larger pulley rung (underneath the platter) and setting the speed changer to '45/78'.
(Please Note: 78 RPM records require a special stylus - we recommend the Ortofon 2M 78 Stylus for this turntable).

As well as being convenient, the speed control system also allows for smoother motor operation - further reducing unwanted resonances along with Pro-Ject's specially-developed motor isolation system. The new motor isolation system utilises Pro-Ject's preferred Thermo-Plastic Elastomer (TPE) compound to achieve dramatically reduced resonance transference from the high-quality 9V motor.

Another significant sonic benefit for the Debut Carbon Esprit SB is found in the included platter upgrade. Supplied with a 12" Acryl-IT platter, acrylic is a an excellent playback platform for vinyl, as it offers almost no resonance in the audible frequency range and negates the need for a slipmat, which can sometimes cause problems with slip and/or static.

The Debut Carbon Esprit Phono SB takes an established hi-fi design and adds some impressive upgrades to achieve an even more complete, more high-end turntable system.

That is a very good deal. I'm seriously tempted. Hard to justify the Evo over this. Especially considering the first upgrade would be to get the acrylic platter.
O2M is a decent cartridge. But I don't think at that level one could hear a difference between this and Evo. So it's all about the aestehetics.

It's essentially the same turntable as the EVO, just an older design aesthetic. Save yourself the money and grab this, there isn't any major benefit (if any) in the Evo over this, its all very mature technology at this point, no major leaps forwards in decades (edited)

Please note that this isn't the Sonos edition that includes a built in pre-amp (as well as a Sonos branded cover)

I know nothing about turntables, would never get one (since they're obviously obsolete 😁), but am deeply fascinated reading the discussions from all you loonies!

    It's like homeopathy for geeks.

    No offence..... 😏

being obsolete would suggest that they're not produced or used anymore... this is clearly not the case.

"I know nothing about turntables" probably would have been best to end your comment there.... no offence.

The acrylic platter on its own costs around £100 so this is a good price but I've always preferred a heavier platter on a turntable. Gets good reviews. (edited)

And it has a button for changing speed! Woohoo... Turntables that require belt changes by hand can get in the bin.

This looks a really solid deal for a manual deck.

hahaha, yeah I've had turntables requiring a manual belt switch for over 20 years and it is a nuisance.

Not sure this turntable is any better than my current Rega P2 with acrylic platter though? (edited)

I owned this table for about a year. Quite nice for the price. I wasn't too crazy about the shiney finish though.

This table ultimately lead me down a rabbit hole of upgrades though. I sold it on for a Technics SL-1200GR, valve preamp and Ortofon 2M Bronze stylus and cartridge. (edited)

Looks Good - Ortofon 2M Red cartridge too - a review said it was bass light, but heard good things about O2M

    Have some HEAT (edited)

I haven't used the Red, but I have the Bronze, bass light isn't something I would say is characteristic of this series, its just right. One thing I would say is that accurate reproduction of bass on a turntable isn't anyhing new, stick a clamp on the record (not a weight) and that firms things up nicely (edited)

What are the differences to this and the evo apart from the platter?

Been watching the evo for a while but maybe this is a better option?

It's probably a cheaper option. Their model lineup is confusing, but this could be £150 cheaper than the Evo.

I wonder if we will get a boom in CD players ten years from now. Must admit if I had money to burn I’d have one of these, digital media is a bit soulless.

The references to Sonos are a bit confusing if it doesn't contain a pre-amp.

If anyone doesn't know, you will need either a special phono input on your amplifier, or a separate phono pre-amp if you want to plug it into a generic input on an amplifier.

Stupid question - i have a Naim Mu-So first gen which i mainly use. How would this connect and would there be a loss of quality?

I've had a Pro-Ject T1 for years and hate the fact it needs an external speed box, but not only that it causes massive elerctrical feedback through the speakers. Tried everything, change of amps, cables, ground loop isolater etc so thinking maybe an upgrade to this as it has the speed internal could help?

I don't wish to brag but I bagged myself an ex-demo Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo for £270, and it's in mint condition. Daylight robbery, can't quite believe it
