I've cancelled my 1080p order and gone for this one after some man-maths.

I'm torn between the cheaper Blinks (4 camera setup is just over £110) and the Eufy 4-camera setup (£310). I'm trying to avoid paying for a subscription so I'm comparing features available based on the lack of a subscription. If I get the Blink, I'll be using a 256gb memory stick in comparison to Eufy's built-in 16gb eMMC.

    What's your thoughts? (edited)

They use to have thumbnail views of recordings, so you could tell at a glance who was at the door etc, very helpful if you're looking for a specific clip or ignoring the neighbours kids playing in front of your house.

Playback used to be almost instantaneous, whereas it's now almost 10 second wait to pull the clip.

The system overall seems to have slowed down and is more prone to errors.. mine has lost connection to the USB drive a couple of times. If you have the patience of a saint, you will probably get by, however if you're used to what the system used to be, it feels like they've completely ruined it.

The cynic in me thinks all of these factors are to push consumers into subscribing, so I would factor the subscription into your calculations as IMO this would be the "real cost" of an effective system.

It's my understanding that the base station creates its own WiFi for the cameras to connect to. Seems cumbersome to me - why would use this instead of the Eufy cameras that simply connects directly to the existing WiFi network?

The only reason I can think of is if it's important to have the stored footage on the base unit instead of stored directly within the cameras?

There's probably more to this than what I realize - anyone care to explain?

Low power network, normal wifi would kill the battery quickly

What's the benefit of getting this as opposed to the 2C version? This says if using homekit resolution is 1080p making it same resolution or am I missing something? Asking as the 2c version is £120.49 now

It's 2k using the eufy app. Homekit is an apple limitation on secure video to 1080p.
