Stumbled across this deal on the Sports Direct homepage and thought that someone could benefit from this.

I'm not an expert on bikes but it seemed like a good deal to the naked eye (RRP £350, but generally around £275 everywhere else that I've looked).

Stock appears to be limited to the first 500 orders only according to the website. Some more details about the bike I could find online:

No worries, hope you enjoy your new bike. Good point too, if they're promoting it on the homepage then hopefully it's genuine 🤞

Anyone having trouble fitting the front wheel because of disk rub, watch this video. It explains how to adjust this model

You need to adjust the position of the pads and caliper. Mine was really hard to fit, until I backed off the pads, loosened the mounting bolts then inserted the wheel and fine adjusted before tightening everything up. Now I get no rub and the brakes work fine. (edited)

I'd be surprised if this isn't a misprice and it doesn't get cancelled . Fingers crossed though.

Yeah I was pretty shocked when I saw this. So much so it led me to posting my first deal after being a lurker for years.

Fingers crossed though that they're just trying to shift the stock however they can as I'd hate for people to miss out if the price is genuine 🤞

It’s really 89.99, cos postage seems unavoidable but for an ally frame with disc brakes seems cheap! Took a punt thanks.

Sorry you're absolutely right, have updated. First time posting a deal so I'll know to include the shipping next time. Thanks!

Edit: Tried to update the price but it just got reverted back. (edited)

Will it be suitable for an adult over 6 foot tall?
    sleepwalkcapsule's avatar

Hey 👋 so the size guide embed on the Sports Direct site is a bit broken, but here's one I found at Evan's Cycles which might answer your question:

    Small:
    5’1 - 5'4 / 152cm - 163cm

    Medium:
    5'4 - 5'8 / 163cm - 173cm

    Large:
    5'7 – 6’0 / 172cm - 183cm

So it sounds like anything over 6 foot might be a bit tricky with this bike. Perhaps someone here has a better knowledge though as I'm not a bike expert.

I'll try to add the size guide to the description above as it's quite useful, thanks for pointing this out

Edit: Posted this at the same time as who actually knows what they're talking about, listen to them (edited)

Couldn’t get BlueLightCard or studentbeans codes to work during checkout, it applies discount in basket but removes during checkout.

    Applying code in checkout:

Sorry, that promotional code is invalid

student beans worked for me, i checked out with paypal if that helps?

For those who've got one .....bikes these days are not as easy to put together as you think... especially setting up gears..and if the wheel spokes need adjusting ..

I know one end of a spanner from the other ..but long story short I had to take the one I got to a local guy to sort out .
...that could cost about 50 quid
Just something to bear in mind

    Still...great deal (edited)

Got my bike built it but can’t loosen the bolt to align the handlebars.

Now my allen key has been stripped and I’m can’t straighten it!

I’ve tried some wd40 which is not working so far. Anyone got any ideas (edited)
    hedgemonkey9874's avatar
You need to give WD40 time to make its way through the treads, might be worth giving it quite a bit and leaving it overnight. The other thing you can try is heat. Give it some with a hairdryer and see if it works. The alternative will be to drill it and get sometime with a reverse tap to make a thread which undoes when you turn anti-clockwise. Bit of a faff for a new bike but something a bike shop should be able to sort without issue. I would recommend getting a torque wrench, remove and re-torque all the bolts if you can. Copper grease on the threads helps guard against seized bolts too.

I said this to another poster but I'm always happy to hear when someone's kid benefits from deals like this, especially given the current times. Hopefully the weather improves so he can put a good few miles on it! 🚲
