Pretty decent value if you need a PC for basic tasks. 16GB ram and the SSD will make is snappy and the 9th gen i5 isn't bad either. We have 2 options, one comes with an optical DVD-RW drive, the rest is the same.

For anyone interested, the 16x slot is up against the PSU so it is single-slot GPU only as others said:
dell.com/com…22F

Not sure why they have it round this way. The 4x slot is open backed so could take a card but might not be able to supply 75W, though apparently even the 16x can’t supply that, 50W limit. Only way is to try:

Would you be able to add a gaming card to this?

Honestly it's not worth the effort, you'd be limited to very limited niche GPUs like 1030/1050 75w single slot solutions. Do yourself a favour and grab something like this and go for a 500/700 watt PSU. Way more headroom for upgrades later and not limited by proprietary parts. hotukdeals.com/dea…531

Is an official Windows 11-supported CPU.

I would think yes, as I use a 5060 and that's on Win 11 (as is the wife's 5050). A good deal I think, so heat OP.

There’s two options which appear to be the same? Anyone know what the difference is? (edited)

amd has a new 128core cpu should be pretty good if you want to spend £6k on the best?

Thanks - ordered to replace my dads machine. Just what we were after. Decent chip, ram and hard drive for someone who just uses it for browsing, word, excel and email.

Yep, exactly for that one! Nice one!

For most people this is more power than they'll ever need.

I am currently on a Ryzen 3500 laptop with 4gb and I can have about 20 tabs on explorer open before it slows down. And that's on Windows 11

I can watch films and do pretty much anything on a laptop I paid £100 for this year

This machine is far more powerful.

I have over 700 tabs on Firefox.

What's the space like in these cases to add a couple of 3.5" HDD to use as a Plex server?
    amrit3568's avatar
    None. No spare spaces/slots. (edited)

    Purchased, thanks!

Good price for a decent spec machine, not much good for those that want to add drives/GPUs but that's not really the point of these, they plug in, work well for intended user base

Really wouldn't get this for gaming. I made a gaming rig years ago with a gen 2 i7 2700k and twin MSI Forza 6970 gfx cards running in SLI mode and 850w PSU. All in a Cooler Master HAF full sized tower which is massive. Never even used 10% of the power and took up so much space. I have now ordered this Dell to keep me going for a while and will sell my now outdated 'gaming' rig along with its dated 27" monitor.

I managed to get a used 27" HP Z27Q G3 QHD LED Monitor (2560 x 1440 pixels) on eBay today for £100. Along with the Dell pc that's £300 all in for a decent setup for every day use. Can't really complain.

Edit: I have a PS5 for my gaming needs. More than enough, no need for pc gaming personally. (edited)

Has anyone's order been confirmed? I placed my order on 10th Aug and still showing as processing...
    warmasice's avatar
Same. They're supposed to ship the device same day if ordered before 5pm. Mine is also showing as 'Processing'.

Now this is a deal. I've been looking around for quite some time and not come across anything this cheap with respectable performance. It even has USB-c and nvme support.
  14. warmasice's avatar
Ordered. I read the manual and it appears to have x2 sata 3.0 ports and x1 nvme port.

For the price, you can't go wrong for general productivity and browsing.

Excellent deal. I love these Optiplexes. They're well-built and look smart. More than enough power for most general computing tasks. Goes without saying they're not gaming machines. Would be great for a compact Plex server too if you add an external storage box (which is what I do).
    justjamming's avatar
If you're not transcoding, it's probably way more powerful than needed. If you are, then it's a good spec.

I use a 6th gen i5 dell laptop for Plex as it was more or less free and sips electricity to run 24/7 🏻

Looking to start homelabbing, could I put proxmox on this?

    Yes, of course

Would this work well to play back 4k content when paired up to a 65" OLED?
    warmasice's avatar
Yes but if you want 4k @60hz you'd need a display port (pc end) to hdmi cable (TV end).

    oos for me ?

It says there is 1 remaining but when you click to add it to the cart it says there is nothing in your cart.

It's a shame I missed this as it would be perfect for my needs at a good price.
