About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Pro's & cons:

Double chamber, drop stitched, solid and stiff with no sag and I'm 16 stone! - really great for beginners at less the £200. It knocks the cheapo Amazon ones into the corner. The paddle is ok - adjustable to fit, but works fine, pump & leash are pretty good, the kayak bits - well more for mucking around on then serious kayaking.

The rucksack it comes in is not that durable, and they were in short supply last time they were on offer last year.

Its not a board for pro's but as a first time paddle board these are probably the best sub £200 offer around.

Mistral used to have a very good reputation many years ago on the windsurfing scene. Surprised to see them in Lidl.! Did Mike Ashley buy them or something?

Yep - old and bold windsurfer here - thats why this one caught my eye last year. I was lucky enough to bag one and used it a lot last summer - really good bit of kit no issues at all.

What cemented it for me was a local watersports company went out hunting and managed to grab a load by visiting all Lidls within 30 miles and they were the mainstay of their hire fleet last year. They were back on the seafront last weekend with the same boards, so to me if a board is ok having been used as commercial hire for a summer it will outlast me :-). Grainy image is from last summer, about 10 seconds before a nosedive for the gazillionth time50046638-0AgbM.jpg

edit - in hindsight really should recommend a lifejacket ... (edited)

I see they have a wet suit in the same promo - does anyone happen to know much about it? ie thickness, sizing, quality?

answering my own question - lidl.co.uk/p/w…629

    • 3mm neoprene thickness on the body
    • 2mm neoprene thickness on the arms and legs

thinking that sounds rather thin for anything other than summertime use

Really is a great bit of kit for anyone who just wants to get out there and mess about on the water.

I got one of these last summer and I’m very impressed. So much so I’m tempted to get another (with slightly updated colour scheme) for friends and family to use.

I want to get my sons one of these that it would last them would you recommend this one or Aqua sprite or decathlon one? Any advice?

can't comment on aqua sprite but a mate has an Itwit one from decathlon. Decent board but there are a few differences. The Itwit is a bit shorter (10 foot I think), and bit lighter, better for him as he's smaller then me so suits his size. It seems to me a bit less stiff, or could just be more manoeuvrable, and one thing i prefer the mistral is for the dual chambers. And if i remember right - he bought his paddle separate to the board so adds cost but nicer paddle. I think for teens and smaller adults a smaller board may be good but the bigger the board the more stable it will be. Best of luck and have fun whichever you choose.

Local Lidl just restocked at same price - a dozen on a pallet on Sunday morning (4th June) - Let fly the geese :-)

Still reckon this is the best sub £200 board on the market.

i'd say decathlon boards are better and all sizes often under 200

don't see any decathlon packages under 250 for adult sized boards? any links or just watch out for sale items?
    mattd555's avatar
    mattd555
all sizes often on sale for 199, they don't come as a package because you then have a choice of your own paddle and pump, not restricted to the cheap, often basic ones included in value bundles

Just in case it helps anyone, we are on holiday in Maryport and their lidl still has some of these and they are now on "buy one, get one half price"

Bought 2 paddleboards, only went in for coffee
