    Took this train before overnight (departure 10pm). For some reason they start serving breakfast at 3am but first station in Alps is around 6am so there is no way to get full nights sleep...

    Sorry, just imagining 723 people all arriving at Bourg at the same train station. Could take a while before you find a free space on public transport (or even the funicular).

    We passed through in a coach (a rite of passage for all skiers is to coach to the French Alps from London) and I remember seeing zillions trying to find anything to take them up the mountain... Pre funicular time, though.

    It doesn't. It drops at three spots and no chaos is involved.

    Sad that air travel is still vastly cheaper, have frequently got return flights to Geneva with 20kg luggage for <£100 which makes it the preferred method of travel.

    I havent paid that in years and its closer and/or cheaper then you suggest

    Right now, Saturday dates in March are c180 per person return, before bag (BHX).

    Plus;

    Bens bus return c£90.
    Plus a board bag £

    But only those dates - pointless.

    Shame service ends 4th February ski season runs into April and utterly useless for February half term

    Yeah not sure what they’re thinking with this timetable. Hopefully it’s testing the waters and they’ll extend it if they sell enough seats.

    It was ludicrous last few years where you had to book an entire package holiday to get on the train. (edited)

    Scan read the offer and thought, that's not how you spell Lowestoft. I should go to bed.

    To be clear, this is different from the old direct services. You change train at Lille

    Yeah I spotted that, more expensive than the old service and you have to faff around changing trains in Lille 🤦‍♂️

    I paid £268 for 2 return tickets back on the old direct service in 2019 so £134 per person.
