2023 version of the 8807. Costco seem to be the only one currently selling it, but these prices are cheaper than the 2022 models currently in most cases.

The One that has it all.

Meet The One. This 4K Ambilight TV will turn up the joy in your home! You get thrilling
picture quality, all the apps you could want and epic gaming. Plus, you can add a soundbar
or speakers and build your perfect home cinema setup.

The one with Ambilight.

Ambilight TVs are the only TVs with LED lights behind the screen that react to what you watch, immersing you in a halo of colourful light. It changes everything: your TV seems bigger, and you'll be drawn deeper into your favourite shows, movies and games.

P5 perfect picture engine

The Philips P5 engine delivers a picture as brilliant as the content you love. Details have noticeably more depth. Colours are vivid, while skin tones look natural. Contrast is so crisp you'll feel every detail. Motion is perfectly smooth.

Ultra-sharp picture

No matter what you watch, you'll enjoy a bright, ultra-sharp picture with vivid colours. Plus, this 4K UHD Ambilight TV is compatible with all major HDR formats — so you'll see more detail, even in dark and bright areas, when you're streaming HDR content.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

With Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on board, your films, shows and games look and sound incredible. See the picture that the director wanted you to see — no more disappointing scenes that are too dark to make out! Hear every word clearly. Experience sound effects like they're really happening around you.

Responsible packaging

Looking for a TV that fits with your room? The virtually bezel-free screen of this Ambilight TV goes with just about any interior, and the swivel stand makes placement a breeze. Our packaging uses FSC-certified recycled cardboard and our printed materials use recycled paper.

DTS Play-Fi

You get great, clear TV sound straight out of the box. If you want more, Philips Wireless Home System with DTS Play-Fi lets you connect to compatible soundbars and wireless speakers around your home in seconds. You can even create a home cinema surround-sound system using your TV as a central speaker.

Loves gaming

Your Ambilight TV with HDMI 2.1 lets you make the most of your next-gen gaming gear with super-responsive gameplay and smooth graphics. Make those jumps and U-turns or drift perfectly through a corner! VRR and FreeSync are both supported. Ambilight's gaming mode makes the thrills feel bigger.

Google TV™

What do you want to watch? Google TV brings together movies, shows, and more from across your apps and subscriptions, and organises them just for you. You'll get suggestions based on what you like, and you can even use the Google TV app on your phone to curate your watchlist on the go.

For anyone interested, since this model doesn't seem to be available anywhere but Costco, I've just gone through point by point between this and the previous 8807 model still available at Currys and a couple of other places for £100 more than this deal.

A far as I can see it the newer 8808 has some minor picture improvements (on paper), notably better sound (includes a 30W sub which the 8807 doesn't), and Google TV rather than Android TV.

The 8808 loses from the 8807: Hue Ambilight integration (though can still do the 'lounge light' feature when TV is off) and USB recording.

Overall minor differences so seems like a tossup between them. The better sound is nice but imagine most will use with external speakers anyway. Google TV is a worthwhile upgrade. The Hue loss is a nuisance for those with Hue households, but could use a Hue sync box if desperate for it.

Still, this looks like a good deal at £100 less... think I'm gonna go for it, thanks OP.

Did you go for the 8808? If so how are you finding it?

Great TV but ensure you only buy a Phillips with a long guarantee; ours is on its third screen in 3 years.

Great price, I have been looking at this TV but I can’t find a proper review, does anyone know if it’s worth the price?
    thanks!

Kinda random question: Is there a Philips model with 4-side ambilight, hue integration and all the latest bells&whistles or not anymore?

Only OLED now. Mini LED have been geeked to be mid tier and LCDs are obviously low and budget tiers

I wonder if it's worth spending the £200 or so extra for the mini LED models. (edited)

I am considering the same. I have been holding out to see if anythig came up this week that would top the '55PML900855 inch Mini LED 4K Ultra HD HDR Ambilight' richersounds.com/phi…tmlon Richer Sounds, that is priced at £699. I would mainly use the TV with a Fire Stick, so not too bothered about the operating system.

    Anyone help to advise please?

Are these models (2023) without HUE integration?
    bazpoint's avatar
The video sotv posted above states that it does have Hue integration.

Any opinion from the knowledgeable folks here on this (75 inch version) vs the TCL 75c645 (circa £100 cheaper, but Android TV vs Google TV) or the TCL 75c745 (circa £100 more, does have Google TV)?

I'm keen on Google/Android TV hence these choices, & not bothered with the lesser known name of TCL. Haven't bought a telly for over a decade though so a bit out of touch with the tech - I'm most concerned if there is likely to be a clearly better picture quality with either the Philips & TCL offerings? Can't answer for the TV's you're looking at, But I am a big fan of Google TV OS, had LG and Samsung TV's previously and much prefer Google TV, to their inhouse offerings got rid of my firestick for IPTV, their App loads directly on it, chromecast is also built into mine.

Swapped to 2 Sony Tv's in the house now, just makes cable management so much easier and tidier.

Is there a list of the differences in the models? eg. the Models in the 8000 range and 7000 range?
    bazpoint's avatar
The Philips website has spec lists for each model... just open the models you're interested in in some tabs next to each other & go through them point by point.

I might be wrong but doesn't this have the double chip that causes the screen to only do 100hz not 120hz I'm sure I read about it about 9 months ago, might be wrong that might be the 2022 model (edited)

Had it and huge issues with earc and soundbar.
    McFlufftang's avatar
Working fine for me, software isn't 100% though as the TV sometimes locks up (every month or so)

Is this the same as (or equivalent to) QLED/QNED?

Have you tried resetting Android back to factory?

Also, enable dev mode and then disable 'Mobile data always active'.
You could try playing with Background process limit too
