200w anyone has this and can verify it that efficient?
    yorkie12's avatar
That's around 6p an hour to run Danrw. Ours is 185w and takes 4 to 6 hrs to dry a load of washing that's had a good spin. In cold weather also use in Kitchen when cooking and bathroom for an hour after using shower. They really do help keep down condensation.

After comparing photos, it looks to be the same as this one on Amazon rated 4.5* from 533 reviews:

Is this cheaper to run then arête meaco ?
    andiron87's avatar
    costs per hour are negligible
this one costs 5.6p per hour
    meaco artete (150W) about 4.4p

difference 1.2p per hour, running for 10 hours a day 10p/day, £3 a month, £36 a year.. so it would take a 3 years while running every single day to justify the higher price of Artete

I'm only talking costs here, haven't used this one so can't tell quality/efficiency etc.

Just bought one. Very compact little thing not so heavy 10kg.
You set humidity I want and forget it. Comes on and does it thing then goes off on auto mode. Sleeping mode is dim light and slow fan not slept with that .
Just to remind people if you have cough or cold do not use it. You need humidity to fight infection a dry room not good for your lungs . Otherwise below 60 is ok.

Thank you for the info. I bought it and, after 24 hours rest it’s quietly working in my study removing the damp from the walls very successfully. It is practically identical to the dehumidifier I bought last year for almost double the price. The only difference is there is no clear plastic window in the Aldi Ambiano unit that lets you see how full is the water container (which is a shame as this feature is very useful).
Just wonder why there is no warning on the box and in the instruction manual about necessity of waiting 24 hours from the moment you brought the dehumidifier home and plugging it to the mains as not everybody knows that.
I remember decorators at my workplace had to move a big fridge in canteen. They leaned it almost horizontally in order to move it. Then did it again and plugged it straight back. The effect was that our almost new fridge had to be thrown away- it stopped working.
Refrigerators, freezers and dehumidifiers, all have compressors inside and it’s vital to let them „settle“ after they are tilted/transported in position different from upright. I’m sorry for boring those who knew the facts but I’d like to help others who don’t. Even tho this dehumidifier is a bargain at £90 it’s better to look after it properly.

Too late for me, I plugged it in straight away, was working properly then, hopefully continues working

Does anyone know if this has a continuous drainage hose?
    ap123ap's avatar
Yes it does, in the bag with instructions
  7. ap123ap's avatar
Are these in store purchases only?
    Timmylad1975's avatar
Yes, Aldi no longer sell items online
  8. ColonelMustard's avatar
Did anyone see any in any Birmingham store? Thanks

Not Birmingham, but not far, just brought one from the Aldi Tamworth

does anyone have any articles, reviews or similar that compare dehumidifiers sold as 10, 12, 20, etc litres? I wonder if it's worth going for the ones rated for >18L because they tend to cost twice as much as these...

    Edit: Meaco claims

    10L, 20°C and 60%, 4.48 litres per day , 152 watts
    20L, 20°C and 60%, 8.48 litres per day, 219 watts

It seems it might be worth it. I wonder if it might be best to have two 10L in different parts of the house vs a big one though (edited)
    deanwall's avatar
Just based on what you’ve written…
    2 x 10L, 2 x 152 watts = 304 watts
    1 x 20L, 1 x 219 watts = 219 watts.
So depending upon how’d you run units in the long term it’ll cost you more in electric.
Of course there are various other factors that may make 2 better or 1 better.

Shipment is delayed, why I didn't post this already, speaking to staff the container ships are heavily delayed currently. Don't know when will be in stores.

  16. christoph502's avatar
Can anyone comment on how noisy it is? Can you sleep with it on?
    scott_mcanally's avatar
It has 2 speed settings; the 'sleep mode' uses the lower speed and dims the indicator light. It is quiet, but I'm not sure I'd personally sleep peacefully with it running in the same room.
  17. Smiles20's avatar
Have one of the larger 20l units they used to sell. That one has a drying mode too. Unsure if this 12L one has a drying mode. Dehumidifiers do help, wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Personally I would go for a larger one, if able to afford extra.
    ap123ap's avatar
This one has a laundry mode if that’s what you are referencing

To anyone that has bought one. How effective is this? Anyone managed to have theirs running for 24 hours and can confirm how much water it has soaked up. What was the humidity before and after and temperatures please? Cheers.
    ap123ap's avatar
We had ours running in the bedroom for about 5 hours yesterday and it extracted about 3/4 of a pint.

Is there a way to check stock? My local only ever has the middle aisle.
    purplewilde's avatar
Nope. I even called customer service and they told me that I needed to go in branch to check. Not very helpful
  22. Meathotukdeals's avatar
Could anyone comment on the lowest %RH you can set this to? Like 30%?
    dealer175's avatar
    Yes, 30% is the lowest

Sorry to hear that. Did they say they had come in and sold out or were they still awaiting the delivery? My local store is within 10 miles of a huge distribution centre, that could be the reason we had stock although as mentioned they were delayed.
  26. ColonelMustard's avatar

I popped in today and didn't see any....

Yayyy thanks to this post I’ve managed to buy one for both myself & my mum 🏻
Went to the Salendine Nook store in Huddersfield. I just asked a member of staff who said none out on shop floor but she checked the Aldi flyer to see if it was in the Thursday deal. Nothing in the magazine. She was so helpful 💯
Luckily I was still in store having a nosey & she can found me & said there were some in the back 🏻 🏻
Store manager said they’d come in late. WELL DONE THAT STORE
It’s now plugged in & already got 20ml of water in! Smaller than our other dehumidifier which is fab as it’s quite a dinky little unit compared to our other one we use to dry laundry .
Thank you so much for posting

I recently used a Screwfix model, a meaco model ( both about the same size ) and a small dehumidifier on a room that had soaking carpets that leaked through to the room below. All three were running for about 10 days and we're emptied every 12 hours.
I reckon in a 24 HR period the meaco one would collect about 1½ gallons. The Screwfix one less than half that.
The Meaco DD8L a clear winner and was also Which recommended. Pricey though (edited)

    I have a dd8L. It's very good. (edited)
  32. northbank1886's avatar
I have the NETTA branded identical model for 4 months.

I use it 2-3 hours per day and have to empty the 2L container around once a week.

Unit is compact and IMO aesthetically nicer than many I've seen.

Only downside is there isn't a program timer for operation.... Only a countdown style option so you can choose it to come on and stay on at a set time or turn off after specific duration of use.

    Definitely recommend (edited)
    Meathotukdeals's avatar
Adam1 above says you can set it with target %rh and it will come on, dry down to target, go off, and repeat.
  33. purplewilde's avatar
Just bought this.  Humidity level showing wildly different to that on my nest though. Started noticing mould on my shoes so def needed it but not sure about performance yet. A lot cheaper than the infamous meaco
