this one costs 5.6p per hour
meaco artete (150W) about 4.4p
difference 1.2p per hour, running for 10 hours a day 10p/day, £3 a month, £36 a year.. so it would take a 3 years while running every single day to justify the higher price of Artete
I'm only talking costs here, haven't used this one so can't tell quality/efficiency etc.
You set humidity I want and forget it. Comes on and does it thing then goes off on auto mode. Sleeping mode is dim light and slow fan not slept with that .
Just to remind people if you have cough or cold do not use it. You need humidity to fight infection a dry room not good for your lungs . Otherwise below 60 is ok.
Just wonder why there is no warning on the box and in the instruction manual about necessity of waiting 24 hours from the moment you brought the dehumidifier home and plugging it to the mains as not everybody knows that.
I remember decorators at my workplace had to move a big fridge in canteen. They leaned it almost horizontally in order to move it. Then did it again and plugged it straight back. The effect was that our almost new fridge had to be thrown away- it stopped working.
Refrigerators, freezers and dehumidifiers, all have compressors inside and it’s vital to let them „settle“ after they are tilted/transported in position different from upright. I’m sorry for boring those who knew the facts but I’d like to help others who don’t. Even tho this dehumidifier is a bargain at £90 it’s better to look after it properly.
Really good machine, fairly quiet too.
Edit: Meaco claims
10L, 20°C and 60%, 4.48 litres per day , 152 watts
20L, 20°C and 60%, 8.48 litres per day, 219 watts
It seems it might be worth it. I wonder if it might be best to have two 10L in different parts of the house vs a big one though (edited)
2 x 10L, 2 x 152 watts = 304 watts
1 x 20L, 1 x 219 watts = 219 watts.
So depending upon how’d you run units in the long term it’ll cost you more in electric.
Of course there are various other factors that may make 2 better or 1 better.
I popped in today and didn't see any....
Worth asking the staff
Went to the Salendine Nook store in Huddersfield. I just asked a member of staff who said none out on shop floor but she checked the Aldi flyer to see if it was in the Thursday deal. Nothing in the magazine. She was so helpful 💯
Luckily I was still in store having a nosey & she can found me & said there were some in the back 🏻 🏻
Store manager said they’d come in late. WELL DONE THAT STORE
It’s now plugged in & already got 20ml of water in! Smaller than our other dehumidifier which is fab as it’s quite a dinky little unit compared to our other one we use to dry laundry .
Thank you so much for posting
I reckon in a 24 HR period the meaco one would collect about 1½ gallons. The Screwfix one less than half that.
The Meaco DD8L a clear winner and was also Which recommended. Pricey though (edited)
I use it 2-3 hours per day and have to empty the 2L container around once a week.
Unit is compact and IMO aesthetically nicer than many I've seen.
Only downside is there isn't a program timer for operation.... Only a countdown style option so you can choose it to come on and stay on at a set time or turn off after specific duration of use.
Definitely recommend (edited)
I tried a few stores (in the north) and didn't find any unfortunately. (edited)
