The Airalo store gives you access to eSIMs (digital SIMs) for 200+ countries and regions worldwide. eSIM technology makes it super simple to stay connected when you travel (more on this in the next section). Thanks for sharing, was looking at them a few days ago to use in Thailand

Beware of the issues with 5G in Thailand. DTAC support a limited number of handsets. AIS or True Move might be better options, depending on whether or not you want 5G and which handset you'll use.

Decent data plan that I used in US. Bad thing is I get spam email all the time ever since I signed up. So use your dummy/spam email if you want to keep your inbox clean.

I’ve had very good experience with them and the esims for iPhone, worked great for when we went to Hong Kong and Japan. Just make sure you don’t activate the eSims until the day before you travel (or when you get to the destination airport with WiFi) you need to have data to activate the sim (edited)

Did you try hotspot ? Did tethering work?

Heat for me used Airalo plenty of times in some obscure places and just picked up a sim to use in April in the US.

Alternative is using a Three Pay As You Go SIM.

"Trick to beat the roaming charges charges outside of Europe – roam in in 41 countries (plus Europe) for no extra charge. While Three has scrapped free roaming for pay-monthly customers, it still offers free roaming on its pay-as-you-go Sims. This means, even if you're not a Three customer, you can buy a pay-as-you-go Sim that lets you make calls and texts back home (or to other UK numbers), and use data in 71 destinations – 41 additional locations outside of Europe – including Australia and the USA.

Grab one of its free pay-as-you-go Sims, top it up (you can get with 10GB, with unlimited calls and texts for £10, for example) and then pop it into your handset while you're away. You'll have to use the new number (and have an unlocked phone), and you need to activate it, top it up, and use it in the UK at least once first. You'll also need to use it once every six months to keep it active. Be aware, there's little point in paying for more than 12GB if it's solely for using abroad, as Three has a fair use policy which caps data roaming to 12GB a month.

And to be clear, this is about getting an additional Sim just to use for roaming, not replacing your current one."

Can I buy the esim now? As to me it will start/activate when I'm in the designated country?

Yes, it starts when you turn it on on your phone and it catches signal in that country

Can you take your own SIM out of your phone while using this. (I usually do this to absolutely avoid bill shock).
    1mran's avatar
If you take your SIM out, remember to PIN lock or you'll have another sort of bill shock. Best thing is to cap your plan at zero, then relax

I tried to activate an Egypt sim here in the uk and the phone tried for a bit and then said activation failed.
Hoping it works in Egypt when I get there
    Ismail99's avatar
It won’t activate whilst in UK, it needs to connect to local network once your there.

Have used Airalo in many places and have only had good experiences. Would 100% recommend
    mascot99's avatar
Have you ever tried topping up if/when you run out of data? What are the top up prices like? Wondering if it’s the same as buying the same plan again?
  14. binary0110's avatar
For the cheapest eSIMs by destination, take a look at https://esimdb.com. Be aware that cheapest isn't necessarily best - some providers aren't reliable/don't correctly install so it's important to check reviews first.

Amazing was going to buy a Canada eSIM for £33 on Amazon. Just bought two of these for half the price!

Used 4 of these in turkey recently absolutely flawless for us.

Used Maya Sim in Istanbul last year, no issues. Have you used Airalo in Antalya?
Bit cautious about using them due to bad reviews on Trip Advisor.

Thank you. Just bought esim with 50% off AND the extra 25% so $6.75 for 10 gb data in Turkey. Just hope it works when we get there in 6 months, fingers crossed.

Worked great for me on a recent trip to Seychelles. If you have connections worth checking if it works though as they didn't have coverage for Ethiopia.

Couldn't fault them. Worked perfectly in turkey

Does anyone know how long this offer is until as I have ordered eSim.me since my phone does not support esim but apparently I could use this instead. So once it arrives I can give this a try.
Also do we have to activate this immediately or can it be activated at a later date?
One last question please if I get a 7 day eSIM do I get full 7 days like car hire i.e. if I activate it at 5 pm on day one does it last until 4:59 pm on the 8th day ? (edited)

I have two trips to the US planned (March & May) does anyone know if I buy two esims now with this deal can I just active the one for the first trip and the second one for the second trip, or will it use them both up as it will recognise I’m in the designated country?
    amber0750's avatar
You have to activate them and install, as long as you just add the one to your phone you’re fine. Activate the other one when needed.

    Super heat!
I use these when in Vegas, normally 3GB for $11
Offer at mo is $13 for 10gb, then down to $9.75 with the code......
    Ready for use in June

    sydney871's avatar
    Same here

Damn the code doesn’t work it just says it’s already been used

I got the same error message but I assumed it was because the deal was already reduced. Ended up buying two for the USA for travels this week.

I usually get a T-Mobile SIM when I land but it's cheaper to get two of these than one physical. Fingers crossed there are no issues when we land as WiFi at LAX is non-existent. (edited)

Why is Airalo insisting on ID verification for UAE esim. Others don't so I am abit puzzled
  32. FAMILYGUY's avatar
Just got back from Antalya, eSim worked seamlessly.

Guys just landed in Beijing and I can’t seem to get this working , can someone plz help
    sydney871's avatar
Couldn't get mine working for days last week when I was travelling then read the instructions carefully. You need to go to settings and change the Access point names as per your Airalo SIM card you purchased. It works like a treat afterwards. You may have to restart your phone. (edited)
