Apparently the electricity consumption and cost of running this thing is quite frightening.

Yep few ppl on utube hve said the same thing think its costs more during cold season which is atleast 80% of the year in uk lol satelite uses more electric to keep the satlite warm to keep frost off it ect.

That's a mental price for the hardware

I saw a couple of these on FB Marketplace towards the end of last year and they were'nt that much cheaper. It's the sub that kills it,and you can see why with those satellites that were put up their costing so much. Just out of interest i thought i would go off and SEARCH on FB Marketplace and quite a few popped up. I set a smaller area for looking at whats for sell so did'nt see some of those for sell. Could be worth a look for someone thinking of going that way for Internet. (edited)

Can you buy this at one location (France) and use it at another (UK)?

Better still, can you move it around if you’re travelling, for example?
    Aph3x's avatar
I think offically you are meant to be on a roaming plan in order for that. check the starlink site for details.

Can I buy in UK and use in France or India ?

Yes, my friend has them in Africa and while it’s not officially set to use there he said it works (edited)

Also keep in mind this maybe a case of getting rid of old stock as a newer model is released in the USA recently so likely coming to UK soon.
