Good price on this dehumidifier.

Arete is the perfect solution to dealing with condensation, mould and damp problems either in the home, in a garage, in an unheated basement, on a boat or in a caravan. All Arete One dehumidifiers come with a medical grade H13 HEPA filter which is 75% larger than the filter on our popular Low Energy models. It can be used to clean the air during dehumidification and as a stand-alone air purifier throughout the spring and summer months.

The control panel on Arete One has simple and clearly laid out controls. The buttons that you use most often are larger; the buttons that you hardly ever use are small. Large buttons include controls for Smart Humidity Control, Night and Laundry Mode either of which can be set by pressing just one button.

    Careful here. No Meaco warranty:

    7. Meaco cannot provide Warranty service to products purchased by unauthorised resellers, auctions or resell sites. Nor can Meaco provide warranties of products bought pre owned / second hand.

Bought one! Thanx. Any idea how to get 5 years warranty on this one? Any good to cover 3 small rooms and bathroom upstairs? How long this will take to fil up the water tank? I'm planning to use from 7pm to 7am?
    Rimi's avatar
Will not be powerful enough for 3 rooms. I had this and swapped for MeacoDry Arete® One 25L . 5l water tank vs 2.5l and you can feel the difference in days, not weeks. At the same saving on energy bills as it runs on and off, where 12l one was running full speed non stop for weeks and managed to lower humidity to 59% from 68%.

Thinking of this for a 4 bed 1 bath house. Would I be better off with two units say 10-12L each to be positioned upstairs and downstairs or one 25L to stay in one place?
    bayhabourbutcher's avatar
I'd go for a single 25L one because

    1) the running cost will be quite a bit cheaper
    2) the larger models are more efficient & work better at lower temperatures so a single 25L will extract more water per hour than two 12L ones
    3) as long as you leave the doors open the single unit will pull in water from all over the house

I also disgree with the person who said 25L is "overkill" - I previosuly bought a 12L model for a small house where some rooms are unheated & it struggled to get the humidity below 60% even when I used it in just one heated room (gas fire) with the door shut

It probably depends on the house TBH eg if you have a modern home that is both well insulated, has no damp issue & most/all rooms are heated then you can get away with a smaller unit - however I would always go for a larger unit as the difference in running cost per hour is minimal & it could even work out cheaper as it will reach the desired humidity & then turn itself off so will not be potentially be running all the time like a smaller unit (edited)

I’ve got both this 12L and the 25L model. This model is just terrible. If you want to get a Meaco then absolutely go for the 25L model as it blows this out of the water, this one is so so slow to dehumidifier even the smallest room in my house..god knows why they say it’s suitable for a 3 bed house, it’s really not. Maybe you got one that doesn't work properly? On the John Lewis site the reviews for the 20L are very positive.

Can anybody confirm the increments on this model? Is it in multiples of 5 or 10 etc when setting a target RH?
    MrWhit's avatar
    Hi...goes up in 5's

Hi , Could you please recommend the best capacity for laundry 12L or 20L? Got a small room for laundry
    Rimi's avatar
20l one will do it quicker.

The air purifier on this...is it any good? I look at other brands but then this air purifier feature brings me back to maeco models. Are these really an advantage over non air purifier models or just a marketing gimmick?
Do you breathe better with this?
    Big.Wayne's avatar
HEPA air purifiers are great, 99.9% of minute particles are trapped.

I've prefer to have my air purifier separate from my Dehumidifier, but if space and budget is limited it makes sense to buy a combo, especially if you only use your dehumidifier during winter and it otherwise would be put in a cupboard during the summer months. Now you can use the Meaco as a stand alone air purifier when you don't need a dehumidifier.

Am I right I thinking that the 12L doesn't have a laundry mode but the 20L does?
    D.Crockett's avatar
12L does have laundry mode, its a game changer during the winter months.

Many thanks! I ordered this from John Lewis two weeks ago for £179 but thanks to EVRI it never arrived so I've saved some cash!

Bought 25l for £239.99, thank you

I went for a 20L one (already have a 10L) as it was £10 cheaper than the Meaco site before the discount. £200 total after discount. Also says ok for 3-5 bedroom house.

The little 10L has been doing well but will have opne for upstair and downstairs now.

This is a very good price. I paid £179 not that long ago
    agent_pires's avatar
Same bought it at that price a few months back from JL. Worth it I use mine to dry the laundry quite often.

This site confuses me! Members on other Meaco threads say they aren't that good. Then this thread says they are good.

Most dehumidifiers of the same size/capacity are pretty similar in function. This one is nice because it is reasonably quiet and looks quite decent. Most others are pretty ugly.
  16. margamboy's avatar
Be careful with these, even though they state the operating temp is from 5 degrees, the colder the environment the less efficient it will be,. So it will remove less moisture.
If your rooms are often below 10 degrees a desiccant model may be a better option as they also help raise the room temp, in a well insulated room they often can be used as the sole heat source.

I’ve just had a message from DPD.

Great value for a good size. This will do you a great job dehumidifying and dying washing.

Why would someone pay so much for a Meaco when there are models like this one at A much lower price? amzn.eu/d/1…s2d

Just wondering if there's any major differences
    Rimi's avatar
They will do the same job, but check noise levels if that bothers you. Also, 5 year warranty is a bonus as they often fail in few years if used frequently. Not the same reliability as were 15-20 years ago. I still have DeLonghi DEM10, which is 18 years old, used quite frequently and still works fine.

Anyone happen to know is 20L would be ok for 5 bed 2 bathroom house or if 25L would be more appropriate?
    Rimi's avatar
We have 20l for 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house and it is struggling...using additional 12l in the sitting room.
So 25l at least for 5 bed house.

Like others I got the 25 litre version and am very pleased. I have it on at night on chap electricity tariff. Collects a lot of liquid in the tank. 12 litre only suitable for small space

Does it blow out cold air or warm air?
    markyo007's avatar
I find that it is cold(ish) mine comes on most nights and it doesn’t cool down the room
  29. coldupnorth's avatar
Am I correct in thinking the number displayed on the display is the current RH of the room? I have just set mine to 50RH and the display shows 43 but the machine isn't turning itself off?
