Will never rejoin Virgin as the customer service is really really poor, No one really helps and they close the ticket without resolving the issue.
    BillRawls's avatar
Customer service is crap over the phone BUT the WhatsApp service was brilliant, no waiting on hold just respond when they contact you.

The reason I'll never go near them again, after I gave notice to cancel, they hit my account with a failed payment which went straight to my credit report. I hadn't missed a payment, the final payment was not even due yet. I had to chase them to fix it, no apology or anything. They've done it quite a bit to others, I saw an example of somebody's mortgage process being ruined for the exact same reason. (edited)

I can only say if you have alternative option DONT GO WITH VIRGIN MEDIA, customer service worste then rayair, they just hang up on you

    Same experience.

    did you make a complaint?

I bet the staff bonus is affected if they succumb to your closure request

I went on their website and they offer this but have no idea how to add it on, does anyone else know? I have tried to go through the deal link but dont see any options to upgrade the phone line.

    • Weekend calls included. +£3.60 for Evening and Weekend calls, +£8 for Anytime Calls
    KodaBear's avatar
If I’m not mistaken, the complexities around the digital landline upgrade stopped people from changing landline packages online. You need to call them up once live to upgrade your package.

Just renewed. 250Mb, Mega TV and phone weekends ( which we don't use ). £35 /mth no prices rises until April 25. Is that good?
    ghostmjr's avatar
yes a day’s downtime and you need to send back the old hub. I ring and say they are moving out and then put an order through online for the other name to start the day after the end date of the previous contract. Doing this guarantees a lower price than going through retentions. (edited)

"the M350 works out £459 or £25.50pm effective"
Just a little typo Mrswitch but think you were referring to the M250 as being this price.

Thanks for this deal will be signing up tonight much appreciated !

Renewed my contract the other day for £27.50 for 500mb and phone line with £35credit
    Roystrainset's avatar
How did you get that deal please?
  7. C0mbat's avatar
I've been on M125 (upgraded to M250) at £16pm for the past two years. One thing worth noting. If you're on a good deal and want to get a new contract at that price then get a free WiFi Pod and it renews you for two years. (edited)
    skidr0w's avatar
Hello, I have volt 250mb + TV for £29pm. If I ask for a WiFi pod this enters me into a new extended contract?

Virgin media is the worst company I have ever dealt with and their internet constantly goes down. Never again
    anthony69's avatar
For me its been down once or twice in a year say. And even then, its usually back within a few hours. (edited)

£33 per month 500mb BB and landline with no increase this year. Anyone managed to get this any cheaper?
    beckynicol23's avatar
That’s what I got except it was £34pm being an existing customer. They called me and were offering 350mbps for £33pm. I don’t have a price increase in April with the deal and I can’t be bothered with the hassle looking else where
  11. MontBelzoni's avatar
The £26.50 effective price is not correct over the course of the 18 month contract as virgin are implementing RPI +3.9% mid term increases and there is no way of knowing at this stage what that is going to be for 20025 i.e for april 2024 we know its 8.9%
    MrSwitch's avatar
    Author
But no increases in 2024, and as you say, no idea on 2025, so for now the price is correct. Thanks

Just renewed for M500 including telephone for £21. Has to go through to retentions, and still put in my 1 months notice. The next day virgin called me and made the offer of £21.
    george_mooaaa's avatar
good price, I manage then to offer me 250mb 100£ credit 19£ a month but I left them sick of them begging for dicent price
  13. Pricklerickle's avatar
I always been paying 20 for my Internet about 200mb, always have to wait for retentions, and always run out in arpril so I have to get little lower to allow for price rise, but my I also got my own router, if anything happens, I don't have to send it back
  14. anthony69's avatar
Paying £27 for Phone line, Basic TV, and 1Gig internet, existing customer retention deal which I thought was good?
    JS1122's avatar
How you get such a good deal?
  15. TeamMCS's avatar
My renewal is up (again) and they are essentially wanting to double my bill. I get so bored of this rodeo every time my contract is up, decided to buy myself out if it and try out OR FTTP. Not exactly cheap but it'll be nice to have lower latencies.

I really wish they'd regulate this "new customer only" nonsense, it just penalises loyalty.
    Stephen_Barraclough's avatar
100 percent agree, was speaking to a neighbour about this earlier today, she is on the 500m package, no phone, no o2 volt or nothing, new customer deal for £24 a month. Im half that and paying £37 a month at current and the out of contract price is going up to £60, i think not.

But now i need to wait till my 30 day date, call up, do the i want to cancel shenanigans, and then when i get though to retentions, attempt to get either what i have for another 18 months, or cheaper.

Such a waste of my time, i wish i had options tho, my choice is up to 1gb with virgin or, 48mb with any other provider, so rock and a hard place, always panic they will go, ok thats it cancelled , have a nice day.

    Gives me the fear

Just upgraded my broadband to M500, boosted to Gig1 with volt for £29.25pm
    Roystrainset's avatar
How did you get it for £29.25? Comes up as £33 on the website. (edited)
  24. zaynefindsgooddeal's avatar
Try to negotiate the price with Virgin Media over the phone, they will give you a better price. Before was £26 for M125 but my new contract is £22 for the same speed.
  25. Godsenseuk's avatar
Sometimes just got to play the game. Some customer service more helpful than others.
First offered M250 with phone for 33, said no. Then offered 26£.

I said can you do it for 20£ a month. Came back after a few minutes said yes. Wasn't even retentions just online chat. Phone was removed at this price but I never used it.
    Stephen_Barraclough's avatar
how did that conversation play, did you go on and specifcy your notice, or say bills too high etc ?
  26. gingerwarrior13's avatar
Can these contracts be Volted if you’re with O2 for mobile? If they can it may be worth adding that info too…
  27. BarneyRubble's avatar
whats the min time before you are considered a new customer again so you can get these deals?
    KodaBear's avatar
Virgin say 6 months. But in reality you can generally get away with is as soon as the final bill has been generated and paid which closes the old account.

Alternatively you can have another adult living at the address sign up and get it straight away.
  28. Haydy's avatar
    Pain!
  29. AbuG's avatar
Retention email offered m125 for £20 per month, took that.
Might have to get O2 to volt it abit...do they accept O2 monthly refresh? (edited)
    KenKorda's avatar
I’ve been on chat with them for a few hours and they didn’t offer me anything close to my current offer so I’ve proceeded to cancel. Should I expect an improved offer via email do you think?
  30. skinnypete's avatar
anyone know if they are willing to do a cheaper offer for new customers?
    skinnypete's avatar
got offered a £50 credit on top of the existing deal as a new customer
  31. simba2585's avatar
When I use the WhatsApp regarding cancellations and renewal I get get connected to a live chat ...is that the case for others as well or do you connect to an offline agent via WhatsApp chat?
    BillyChan's avatar
Unfortunately you need to put in the cancellation first, then they should call you around 2 weeks before cancellation is due. If they don't call, then you need to call them up to escalate for a good deal from their retentions team.
