Things to do in Paris
There’s never a shortage of things to do in Paris. Proud of its enduring revolutionary spirit, the city is dotted with reminders of its long and storied history: Roman ruins, royal palaces and imposing monuments to France’s illustrious writers and artists. Once you’ve ticked culture off your list of Paris activities, there’s still plenty left to do: hit the shops for vintage and designer goods, eat your way around upscale pâtisseries, or hop on a Vélib’ – the local shared bikes –for a cheap and cheerful tour of the city. Don’t forget the capital’s laid-back nightlife: an evening spent in a cosy wine bar or an underground cocktail den has to rate as one of the top things to do in Paris.

Things to do in Brussels

There’s no shortage of things to do in Brussels, but the city’s relaxed way of life means you can pack in as little or as much as you want. It’s a joy to explore under your own steam, whether you’re ambling around the historic city centre or venturing further afield. Get reacquainted with Tintin, Bruegel or Magritte in the city’s small but intriguing museum scene, or take a tour at the Cantillon Brewery for a taste of local brews. The off-the-tourist-trail neighbourhoods of Ixelles, Matonge and Saint-Gilles are a tram or metro ride away. They’re worth a nosey for their markets, top brunch spots, independent boutiques and international influences. Still wondering what to do in Brussels?

Lille:
When you’re in need of a quick getaway, Eurostar breaks to Lille should be top of your list. Less than an hour and a half away by train, this underrated northern city has bags of charm. Proud of its French and Flemish heritage, Lille is a good place to visit for shopping hauls and cultural thrills alike. A day trip to Lille is perfectly possible: hop on the Eurostar in time for mid-morning coffee and waffles, then spend the rest of the day exploring the delightful old town and sampling local cuisine. Two days in Lille will give you more time to explore, whether you’re in the market for microbreweries, indie shops or remarkable museums and art galleries – so why not extend your stay?

Uber gives 10% credit back on Eurostar as well as GB trains which is a better deal.

And some employers' perks schemes let you buy Uber gift cards at less than face value.

...also counter check against flights ( dependent on dates, preference and destination), ...could strike lucky with easyjet algorithims

I’ve done this, early train from St Pancras, day in Paris and back again around 7pm
    Well worth doing!

I used the lowest fare calendar on the Eurostar website to find the 35gbp fares. These are almost identical to these, except trainpal gives an extra discount

You can book the same prices using Uber trains and get a 10% credit as Uber cash.

I live in Milton Keynes. To fly to Amsterdam for a long weekend (Thursday to Monday) is around £90 consistently and takes around 1.5 hours.

A similar trip on the eurostar costs almost double and takes almost 3 times longer.

Makes no sense unless you're taking lots of luggage.
    Hiyayou's avatar
I agree, but don't you have to factor getting to the airport 3hrs before you fly?
I digress but airports shoud stop charging for pickup/drops... It's insane when they say it's a security threat. Just money making

Unfortunately useless for anyone living in Kent now as the eurostar no longer stops in Ashford, so you would need to add about £34 to the price to get to St Pancras
