yeah i've got 2 they are useless.

Ramakin and microwave my fav way currently.

if you have any ramekins then add water crack a egg (pop the yoke) and put in the microwave (reduce the power setting) and blast for 1 minute. Result 1 poached egg and no steamy kitchen. (edited)

Do you need to "pop" the yolk to stop it from exploding or is normally okay? I tried the microwave/ramekin method, but just oiled the ramekin. I think I should have tried it with water like you suggest.

1-2 inches of water in a big frying pan, bring to boil, crack eggs straight into the water and spoon over some of the boiling water to set the whites. Job done.

This is what I do as well. Somewhere between fried and poached. Froached, if you will.

Or you could just poach eggs in a big pan like you are meant to

I've tried the vinegar/ vortex method and always come out looking a mess for me.

These most certainly do not work a treat, they are useless. Whites around the yolk do not set properly, leave them in longer the yolk goes too hard.

I bet you're doing what I did first time of use. You need to have the lid on the pan, preferably a transparent one.

i’ve always found these just stick and eggs never just slide out, good i suppose for a nicer shape than the vinegar/vortex method which i use.

Run a butter knife around the edge.

I crack one in some cling film twist the top and boil after 2mins you can drop them in carefully and voiallar! Or just leave in the cling film for as long as you like either way cheap and cheerful, try adding a tarragon leaf or two for a unique aniseed twist... Not for me personally I can't stand aniseed but for those that do give it a go. 👌

Wife bought these thinking they'd help, but honestly - total crap.

I just use the water and vortex method - works perfectly every time. However, I do crack the egg into a very fine sieve first. A lot of the watery liquid is then removed, leaving just the yolk and egg white to drop into the vortex - result is none of the stringy bits.
