Even £20 after cashback is a lot for 100mbps broadband. Local fibre providers usually cheaper, I am paying £16 for 1gbps speeds. And even my Three business data sim for £6 a month for unlimited internet averages 90mbps on 4G and 720mbps on 5G.

That's London only. I know everyone in London thinks they are they are the whole country but weirdly they are not. The prices are cheaper because of the high population density.

Technically never had a problem with them. BUT, and it’s a big but, the customer service is so bad. Foreign call centres that are just the worst. I just can’t stress how bad they are.

In the legal bit in the basket at the bottom it says prices are changing by £3.50 from the 1st of April 2024 or am I missing something? (edited)
    Rimi's avatar
You are absolutely right, price will go up by £3.50. If it was me, I would wait 1 month to to join and have 12 months at £24.

I have never used Topcashback before - when do they give you the money? Is it worth signing up just for this cashback or are there fees?
    Burgmeister's avatar
It's free and I'm sure that someone will be only too willing to refer you.

It's worth signing up for even if you don't do this deal. How long it takes for the cashback to be paid varies a lot but, I imagine, with this deal it could be up to 6 months (just a guess based on previous experience)

Why it does say that step 1 of the installation is an engineer mounting a little box on the external wall of the house? Thought they use an existing open reach cables
    DetMerc's avatar
Full Fibre 100 is a Fiber To The Premises (FTTP) package, so if your Openreach cables are still old wires, then they'll need to install a new connection - openreach.com/hel…ist

Unquestionably the worst broadband provider we’ve ever used, and I say this as someone who used to be with V21, who went bust and left us without a connection for a fair while.

When you’ve been with Virgin and move to NOW, it’s like going back to dial-up. If we’d been lumbered with them during the worst of Covid in 2020-21, working from home would have been more or less impossible. Thankfully we got shot of them just in time, (edited)

Can you give more specifics? Connection drops? Random speeds? Did you get a new router / mesh WiFi because the router they send is abysmal and causes most of the issues

A different question, I'm on contract with sky business broadband for another 12 months or so and EE are offering me a buy out to full amount to sky if I switch to EE broadband, was really surprised that they'll pay the full amount for buy out. Anyone knows if it's true and what other companies offer the same. (edited)
    KodaBear's avatar
Yes EE buy out contracts. There’s a limit of £300 as standard, but staff can get authorisation to increase this. If they’ve told you this you should probably accept it as true. Calls are recorded so if it’s not true and they said otherwise a supervisor can listen to it and manually override to fix as per what was agreed.

Sky are another such company who buy out contracts.

This doesn't sound like a good deal personally

Provided by Sky and cheaper than Sky, but can't apply if you're a Sky customer.. bs.
    manicmidlander's avatar
I'll be leaving Sky due to their price rise and I'll be joining Now instead.

I'll use a different email and payment details. Effectively I'll be a new customer

Don’t do it, this company is the WORST!

Still waiting for cashback from September installation. Tbf they do say 6 months to track!! Worse router ever! Had to buy a sky one for better reach. But it’s cheap at £21 for 40mbps download speeds.

I had a july installation and still waiting on the cash back. Apparently it can be nearer 8 months!

Am I right in thinking you can't get an old fashioned phone line with Fibre broadband, daughter needs higher speed but a landline as well, any help appreciated.
    PizzaCake's avatar
I believe NOW doesn't offer a landline if you use their fibre packages even if you're currently on their ADSL + landline. So something to watch out for as you might lose your number.

Fibre providers that I know of that also do a landline (VOIP) package, plug your analogue phone into their router:
    • Vodafone
    • Virgin Media
    • Zen

The tricky part can be if your daughter wants to keep her existing number as sometimes it can't be ported for various reasons.

Skype for example allows you to have a geographic number for a monthly fee but no number porting.

UniFi Talk by Ubiquiti is a new option and they say they'll soon offer number porting, reasonable £7.99 a month cost with minutes if you have their hardware.

There's lots of smaller VOIP providers out there including some that offer number porting for a fee. I just wonder how long are they going to be around for. (edited)

If you can get Hyperoptic now they do 150Mbps 6 months free and then £16 for 18 months. So 24 month term price=£294, 1 month- £12.25
  15. bil.hussain's avatar
Hi Virgin Media has increased their prices. Is it true they do not give you an option to leave?
    KodaBear's avatar
It’s written into the contract you signed nowadays, so no, there’s no option to leave anymore. Or at least not without penalty.
  16. pritchdingo's avatar
I'm with them for a second time, good deal considering I'm paying £27 for 73mp(currently looking yo switch). Never had an issue with them.
    SoloKingxRobert's avatar
Check if Youfibre is in your area.. It's £21.99 per month for 24 months, with no price increase during contract.

    You'll get 150Mbs Download and 150Mbps Upload

Is this full fibre to the house or is it to the street then comes over the copper wire?
    KodaBear's avatar
Now Broadband for anything 80Mb or below is fibre to the street cabinet. This package 100Mb+ is full fibre into your home.
  18. leefal's avatar
I kept my landline number when changing to Vodafone fibre but I'm wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to transfer Vodafone VoIP to NowTV VoIP? I can only see an option to keep your landline.
