    Same here mate.

This will be a stupid question but do I need a heat pump to operate this? Or is this tumble dryer something that operates as a heat pump itself when it dries? i.e. its ready to plug and play without an already installed heat pump at the house?
    zappster1966's avatar
I had the same question last month. They’re plug and play. They don’t need plumbed in. The water they take out the washing collects in a container, you open the flap at the front, remove the container, pour the water down the sink then stick the container back into the machine.

Clothes do take longer to dry than with an older style machine because they operate at a lower temperature. But overall you save quite a bit of ££ off your electric bill.

Didn't dryers used to be about half the price of washing machines, a couple of years ago and now dryers seem to be more expensive than washing machines.
    AndrewShennan's avatar
Heat pump tech is massively more efficient. Half the electricity use of a vented/condenser dryer at least. We got this model 6 months ago and the bills have been so much lower. Most websites have a feature to calculate your weekly washing and to show you how quickly you'll make your money back on them.
  4. edhjedwdwg's avatar
Ao.com will price match this but they also got trade in of £50 for your old washing machine plus free disposal. Minus delivery cost of £20 for 3 days delivery or £30 for next day.
    theabrar's avatar
Isn’t delivery free on aeg website?

Got one of these last time they were on offer. So Been using it now for a couple of months.
Works very well and uses a lot less elec BUT be aware it does take much long to dry cloths i.e about twice as long.
    ebury's avatar
So spend double on buying a heat pump dryer and the drying takes double the time :/ sound's like modern day eco blurb to make you believe these are cheaper to run!!

I'm assuming they CAN'T be taking twice as long, and yours is faulty?
  6. jumbosausage's avatar
I have this model, so far so good. Energy monitor says usage around 700w. Full load is dry in around 2 to 2.30 hrs. Cheap to run and we use it 2-3 times a week at the moment.

I don't have one of these and google doesn't give a quick answer, the webpage (manual PDF) has poor photos and the unit looks okay. But.... For those who have one can you open the bottom section and does it have extra lint filters AND can you see the fins on the evaporator coils? That's THE point of failure on heatpumps - them getting blocked with lint! and being difficult to clean. I was looking at some a few days ago and was shocked to see that LG and Hotpoint still have no easy way to clean their models (perhaps not all) without tearing down the unit! Mine (Early LG Heat Pump) has to be torn down perhaps twice a year and it's not something for regular people to do (ie - it's difficult). This is not a bad price for a unit of this size, users should also be aware they are heavy compared to non heatpump dryers. When they run you will hear a buzzing sound from the compressor (that's normal) - a lot of people think somethings wrong when they hear that ;)..

It has a reverse tumble feature, I haven't seen that "simple" feature in a heat pump without it costing more. I refused to get the Bosch series 8 over the series 6 as it cost alot more at the time
    coony's avatar
What is a reverse tumble? I tried to Google it and got some strange results
  9. nur_saleem's avatar
I bought the washing machine and this dryer as a combo and the codes stacked it all came to roughly 850ish which is amazing so thank you also went through topcashback tracking as another 49 quid but they prolly won't pay out still worth a try... (edited)

I'm looking to get this and put on top of a beko washing machine. Are the width and depth the same for washing machine and driers? My beko has a depth of 640mm and this has 638mm. Assuming that it will line up and it's just the measurements from different manufacturers being slightly different?
    Towner's avatar
Yep, will be fine. Just get one of the stacking kits, loads on Amazon and other sites. amazon.co.uk/Qpr…8-5
  11. Asimahmad's avatar
Anyone know the difference between the 7000 and 9000,

I'm sure there's some specs differences but is it worth going for the 9000?

    Tia
    Newbold's avatar
The AEG website shows the differences.

This is also a Which Best Buy, and a very decent price!
    BargainHunterUK1's avatar
I use to religiously follow which best buys and reviews, but have been stung a couple of times with bad products that got good and best buy reviews…. Now i feel its a minefield as different sites can have such different views….

I'm after a heat pump dryer. Just not sure if 8kg is big enough. In between AEG, Hotpoint and Samsung.
    djgomatt's avatar
I'm sure it will be, but then we don't put delicates or expensive items in ours so there's always room left when we split the wash, I've never felt like we risked overloading ours even when it's a got 5 or 6 bath towels in at once
  14. ACE74's avatar
Bought this when on a deal a few months ago (£20 more) and been very happy with its performance. Uses much less elec than our old condenser dryer.
  15. kevin.greenwqd's avatar
Purchased in Jan , very happy with it and cheap to run
  16. tigau.alexandru's avatar
How many KW uses for 1 cycle on average?
    newbie68's avatar
1.93 on a full cotton load - it's specified on all products - be closer to 1 on a partial load and in-between these figures for other garments
  17. FrugalFergal's avatar
I am going to be a bit lazy but put a question out there....

How much would it cost to do a dry load at the current energy cap? My current (fairly new) washer/dryer unit takes 10 hours to do an automatic wash/dry load.

I cant imagine how expensive that might be so I just stick to an electric airer right now. Its 250w and I leave it on for 12hrs and it does the job
    Deal_searcher's avatar
A full load seems to use around 1.5 to 2kw (so that's around 45 - 60p roughly). It takes around 2-3 hours, so is cheaper than your electric airer, based on what you say, 12 hours would use 3kw. The main benefit of a tumble dryer for me is being able to dry bedding
  18. lapos599_'s avatar
I could not stack codes, so had it price matched with AO. With delivery it is £436 and you get £50 within 30 days after your old unit was collected. Bringing it down to £386.
    3LeggedDog's avatar
how did you get them to price match it if stacking not available?
  19. MrTaurus's avatar
I'm looking for an all in one. Washing machine and dryer combo. Anyone know if they are good choice or best to buy a separate dryer? I'm just conscious of space that's all.
    dball294's avatar
We have kids and a separate dryer is a must. Also the combi's pipes get blocked with fluff after time and are a pain to clean out.
  20. KermitDaFrog's avatar
don't forgot topcashback are also giving back 8% back in your pocket
  21. dralanhart's avatar
Sad that it's a 2 year warranty. I'm out for that reason.
    Jbl_123's avatar
Same here. For this price point I'd want a 5 year manufacturer's warranty
  22. harrythefish's avatar
When the government has a zero percent VAT policy on obvious energy saving devices like this, I'll believe it's serious about net zero.
    Wooj's avatar
Net zero is a dream. I don't think it's happening, certainly not on a global scale, which is all that matters.
  23. Pr1nc3z's avatar
How big is this? Please does anyone know what size this dryer is? Thanks guys!

    5.1% on mine
  26. ken218's avatar
i almost pulled the trigger until I realise this is a tumble dryer, but I am after a washing machine
    Towner's avatar
I tried the codes on Dishwashers and they work, should be the same for a washing machine, plus use Topcashback just incase! Have a look as they do some really nice ones
  27. oakeydoke's avatar
Thanks you have just cost me £395 lol. Needed one as my old one just given up after 18 years lol. Heat added.
  28. aviva's avatar
This is an unbelievable price for an excellent brand! We went with AEG appliances in our entire kitchen (except dishwasher and fridge freezer which were Bosch A rated) 6 months ago. All have been excellent and our energy bills have dropped substantially!
    FRESHHHH's avatar
Bosch A rated - what did you spend! I got an LG D rated and it was about £550
  29. nealw's avatar
Was waiting for something like this to come up. Ordered thanks OP that’s £600 done on this site today
  30. coony's avatar
I've personally not had good experiences with AEG dryers, granted it was a few years ago. Have they changed anything recently?
    aviva's avatar
Yes, marketed as the most premium offering from Electrolux group for 10 years now, made on a separate production line and no longer rebadged appliances.
  31. Jake_Ford12's avatar
I also got another 10% off (that stacked) when signing up to email alerts
    tr1stan's avatar
It added the 10% discount to the stack, but didn’t actually apply the discount to the final amount for me.
  32. Redunitedlee's avatar

I paid £420 recently. If you are in the market just buy it. Very good machine !!
  38. JordanBeresford's avatar
I’ve got one of these and it’s excellent. No problems at all and costs next to nothing to run. We’ve noticed no increase in electricity and this was our first tumble drier
    neversay's avatar
Does it cause much humidity in the room?
  39. Coolio's avatar
Been looking for a new tumble dryer for a while, to replace my 10 year old vented dryer. This one looks good and has a 2 year guarantee which most don't have at this price point. Bought! Thankyou (edited)

Cracking deal for a decent machine

Just wish they had alternative colours on the door instead of the ugly black one.
