Specifications seem to suggest these aren't compatible with older Intel sockets, is that right?

Correct. Lga 1700, am4 & am5 only. The Freezer 34 duo would be pretty good for the older ones from the arctic lineup. (edited)

Bought it two weeks ago when was introduced for Ryzen 8600G. 28-35C on idle/browsing web with fan at 350-600RPM. While gaming CPU temp goes to max 52C and 900-1000RPM. This cooler is a bit overkill for Ryzen 8600G with 65W TDP, hence I can set lower RPMs even at 100% CPU/GPU utilization, and fan noise is barely noticeable.
