This stuff doesn’t taste like Chinese curry from a Chinese takeaway but it tastes more like a Chinese style gravy from a chip shop.

Many people do buy this, I quite like it. Goldfish curry paste is available in the big supermarkets and that is used by some takeaways. I think the takeaways customise the ready made paste by adding spices or more MSG...

This brand (Hot version) and goldfish brand are used in many Chinese takeaway shops, obviously in greater volume. (edited)

You will not get it for a £1 anymore, which is why the deal has went reasonably "HOT". (edited)

I thought I'd try this because it was cheap. I should've saved my money

The best like the takeaway is youngs curry. Comes in a bag (edited)

I find a 50:50 of this and the bisto version makes a decent approximation of our local chippy curry sauce

I think they use Youngs which is ok for chips...this is better for chicken curry.
