Ive had an ambilight TV for several years and always found it to be buggy with the hue bridge and extra lamps. Even with lots of software updates its never been totally reliable.

I have 3 Ambilights in the house connected to various lamps / strips for 4 years now. I had an issue at the start, but I changed the Zigbee channel and centralised the hub and never had an issue since.

I have an older ambilight model "the one" about 14 months old. Love the ambilight android never bothered me its quick and responsive.

However, developed a fault with screen flickering randomly and sound cutting out. 2 year warranty so reported it in January this year still no further forward their tech team is shocking they are actually repeating suggestions. They have had all the logs from TV and still waiting. Replaced all hdmi leads and the issue occurs on 2 different gaming pcs and ps5. At one point the told be doesn't support hdr10+ despite the spec sheets saying it does. Tried to raise a complaint fall's on deaf ears.

Be warned if you fall foul to having to make a warranty claim be prepared for long wait and useless support.

I have had a ambilight TV and am having a replacement delivered today (this model but the 55inch). Purchased in 2021 with 5 year warranty from richer sounds. TV developed ‘banding’ across the screen after 30 months use.

Really nice TVs but i would personally pay the extra and have the extended warranty. (edited)

    Is this an android TV?

It doesn't look like it. I have an Ambilight that uses Philips own hybrid OS and it looks exactly like Google TV but without the best features. The google play store is missing, Disney+ is unavailable and the available exta apps is very limited.

I have the newer 8808 model with 120ghz and the Google OS and not had any issues yet. Love the ambilight especially when playing games !

Great tv but the Android OS is absolutely terrible. Returned mine because of it, it was laggy and unusable.

My older model Philips android TV with ambilight runs perfectly.
    Odd.

I wouldn't bother with these. I have the 75" version. It's laggy and crashes most days. The main board broke on my first one too after 2 months. You're best off getting the android TV version. They're miles better (edited)

Will the ambilight work even with Google TV hdmi attachment/ fire stick?

On mine it works when using a Roku, Shield and playing video files from a hard drive attached via USB.
