Some newer user reviews state this uses the Asmedia AS225CM controller but older reviews state the JMicron JMS576. The specification sheet also states USB3.2Gen1 compatibility on the Amazon website(unlike the official specifications page) which is a feature of the Asmedia AS225CM.There is also no proprietary cable unlike some cheaper enclosures. Gets good reviews.

Bought one of these a while back. Unlike a lot of cheap drive bays it works flawlessly, and now lives as the PS4 drive for my PS5, where it has never caused an issue.

I can live with cheap plastics when the actual enclosure works flawlessly.

They also actually made firmware updates available for the Jmicron version which is unheard of for cheap enclosures, and often you end up running around trying to find it from unofficial sources. (edited)

Bought one of these back in 2018 and it no longer recognises drives. Very cheap build quality.

I hate it when they say support upto 16TB. Which HDD goes up to 16TB? What I really want to know is if this will accomodate a 5TD HDD as they are thicker than the smaller HDDs. None of these cheap caddys seem to be able to accomodate the 12mm 5TB HDDs. Nothing in the description re: this?

To be fair, it's valid when they say it supports drives beyond sizes currently available (or, at least, available at non-crazy prices). Technology moves on, and it's always been a bit of a forward-facing thing to support devices beyond what are currently available, or what's available at non-crazy prices.

Re size, the device is listed as supporting 7.5mm and 9mm - is that not the spec you're looking for?
