Matter Simple Setup (MSS) Feature: Bid farewell to intricate pairing. With MSS, simply plug in, instruct your Amazon Echo to locate the device, and Alexa will promptly scan and finalise the pairing. Note: MSS is only available when your purchase account corresponds with your Echo account. If not, you can pair using the traditional Matter method.
Energy Monitoring: Meross Matter smart plug can monitor energy consumption. It houses an internal power meter, and the Meross app provides real-time updates on the energy usage of your devices, as well as historical data. It can also measure electricity production, making it suitable for monitoring Photovoltaic Solar Panels on the balcony.
About Matter: The Matter agreement is led by dominant platforms like Apple, Google, Alexa, and Samsung, alongside over 500 global companies. This Matter plug can connect to and control any Matter-enabled apps and devices. There's no need to install third-party apps, sign up for cloud accounts, or worry about any tracking.
Voice Control/Offline Control: Matter smart plug works with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home. You can manage your devices simply by using voice commands like "Hey Siri, turn on the light" or "Alexa, turn off the fan". Even if the internet is down, Matter smart home devices can still communicate and be controlled effortlessly within the local network. Alternatively, you can carry on controlling the WiFi plugs via the Meross app.
Schedule: Customise your schedule and routine to fit your lifestyle with the Meross app. Log in using the same Meross account as your family members to share devices.
Requirements for Apple Users: iOS or iPadOS 16.1 (or later), a 2.4 GHz connection and a hub for the chosen platform, such as an Apple TV 4K (2nd or 3rd generation), or a HomePod Mini.
Requirements for Android Users: Android 8.1 or later, a 2.4 GHz connection, and a hub for the preferred platform, such as a Samsung SmartThings Hub v3, an Amazon Echo (4th generation), a Google Nest Hub (2nd generation), a Nest Hub Max, or a Nest WiFi Pro.

Amazon had a pick of 4 for £26.23 so works out at £6.56 per plug (currently at £27.18 / £6.80 per plug)

Slightly different plugs. I use the ones in your link and think they are great. But these use matter. Which I think means you don’t need the Meross app to set up and control also believe work offline. Worth reading up on matter and see if you think are worth the 2x premium!

Does your Alexa device not have a physical mute button?

"MSS is only available when your purchase account corresponds with your Echo account"

Not sure what the above means. I have 4 Tapo Matter plugs that you just an one to the wifi connection & the others by the Tapo app & it syncs automatically with Alexa.

    Surely these do the same?

Is there any decent ZigBee ones that properly work with home assistant at this price? Tried some of the Tuya and other Chinese ones and they don't report power properly in realtime

Not zigbee but the MyLocalBytes work well, ESPhome seems easier to manage compared with Tasmota and should be near realtime

I’ve got a couple of these, they work well with Apple HomeKit. Also have a few of their power strips (without monitoring). Only negative, their customer support (if needed) is terrible.

I have the non-Matter mini version of these. They are a nice size (not too big), easy to set up and have worked flawlessly. I would happily buy again.

It's cheaper to buy the two pack if you want more than one of these.
