AN EGG-CELLENT SERVE! ALDI LAUNCHES BALLYCASTLE CHOCOLATE CRÈME THAT TASTES JUST LIKE A CADBURY CREME EGG

Shoppers can pick up a bottle for just £7.69 ahead of Easter – available in stores from 14th March
Chocolate fans are in for a cracking treat this Easter, as Aldi welcomes the NEW Ballycastle Chocolate Crème (£7.69, 70cl) to its fan-favourite range of Country Creams. Available in stores from 14th March.

Priced at just £7.69 a bottle, the limited-edition Ballycastle offers an alcoholic twist on the nation’s favourite Easter treat, the Cadbury’s Creme Egg.

Boasting an un-bally-believably smooth and creamy blend, with delicate hints of chocolate and sweet vanilla, this tipple is best served neat with ice, or as part of an egg-ceptional choco-inspired cocktail.

Bought one last week. Wasn't a massive difference from the original one. Still didn't stop me finishing the bottle in one evening.

Is it creme egg flavour? Equal parts intrigue and horror.

They had a chocolate orange one the other year, I wasn't keen... but bought it and actually loved it lol

Something tells me Aldi knows their stuff when it comes to evading that sort of lawsuit.

I keep buying these variants and rarely finish them. Just counted I have 8 different ones in the cabinet.

Told the wife not to buy this one but guarantee I'll see it one day and pick one up (edited)

Feeling left out here, I don't have cabinet. Now on the look out for a deal on one (edited)

I'm presuming this tastes like (or is meant to taste like) a Cadbury's creme egg. Throw in the colour scheme of the label and the word creme - what more does a judge want to see before deciding it's ripping off another company's product??
    dudedude's avatar
I'm pretty sure Cadburys don't sell a creme egg liqueur, so there is zero chance of confusion and hence Cadburys don't have a case

Funny how Aldi call this drink after a town in Northern Ireland, yet they still have no NI stores.

    they dont? thats madness

Just checked a Basingstoke ALDI and none there yet (No label on shelf, and staff unaware of it) so try again next week I guess

Expecting the Cadbury court case soon. Some of these products seem to be designed to attract publicity via litigation

So true! No idea how they get away with half of it....some of it is so on the nose and obvious

700 heat and not a single person has seen or bought it….
  13. ashtray's avatar
Not sure if I'll bother buying it, but decent enough for those that want to try it.
I'm giving it heat cos Aldi has big balls.
  14. JPS's avatar
This does sound amazing, be rude not to try it!

The irony of this stuff. Made in the north of Ireland, but not available here because there are no Aldi supermarkets here.

Based, while i dont drink i think intellectual properties, trademarks and copyrights can go to hell especially when cream eggs are a sugar/glucose bomb and nothing special.

Great now I have a certain song by Laysha going round my head.

    Hey move your body....

Anyway yeah I'd try it. Can't see it lasting long in our house.

When will they bring back the expresso martini version (edited)

Question...how long do these type of drinks last unopened? I've got a Clementine one somewhere that I bought a couple of Christmases ago...still safe to drink??
    colinthepatterpillar's avatar
Baileys lasts 2 years unopened, I wouldn't risk any longer than that.

If this helps anyone, won't be in stock until the 14th.
    aLV426's avatar
So no longer sold as "Irish" cream - they have gone for "Country" cream instead!
  28. Alex_Lees's avatar
I live in Ireland and we can't get these over here. Anyone consider shipping over a couple of bottles when they go on sale.

Happy to pay all costs and time and effort. Shipping to a NI address.

    Thanks

Is this a purely spirit base or one of those ones that uses a wine base for part or all of it? The wine based versions are awful, they do it with some of them as it's much cheaper to make.

Thanks OP. Must remember to look out for it.
Reminds me I have been waiting for their extra thick marmalade to come back in stock, they only seem to stock the thin stuff.

    This is soo nice!

Is it true they are having a pina colada flavour next? (edited)
