I believe these are discontinued. I have one at home and there have been no firmware updates for years despite tons of bugs and issues. I would avoid.

DONT DO IT !!! Absolute rubbish after owning Humax kit for years and trusting the company this unit is fundamentally flawed.

If you do buy one don't expect any help from Humax they have pretty much abandoned it.

Do your research before you waste £249. I was an early adopter more fool me .....

Look on the Humax forums ......

I would never buy from Humax again. (edited)

What else do you recommend to record off the TV?

Sorry to be a tech thicky but do these get the tv from the internet/router or from an external aerial- reason for asking is that we need a new aerial and tbh and not a great deal difference in price

Live Tv from an Aerial, Catchup, Amazon etc from the internet

Since the music channels have slowly faded from the various TV platforms, I finally pulled the trigger and well full time with Plex and HD Homerun for the odd show i record and watch and it's been brilliant.

Isn’t Freeview supposedly going to be internet based as opposed to the current version being over the air through the aerial? I expect that they’ll have to continue for sometime period otherwise they’d be uproar especially for people who don’t want to upgrade there equipment and the elderly especially!?

It will all be over the Internet soon no aerial necessary, problem at moment I find is that it's difficult to get internet channels that you can record without having a subscrition to bt, sky

HDHomerun + Plex Pass = The ultimate DVR solution. Forget about anything else.

Can you run through your setup? I’m assuming the plex pass is for streaming local content or are you connecting to external sources as well?

The TV landscape is changing. They'll be pushing Freely shortly. Satellite delivered TV will disappear, that's why Sky are pushing Glass and Stream. Lower delivery costs etc.

Makes most sense. Freeview will never offer 4K and 8K channels, so I can't wait to see Freely up and running. And no aerial. Thank ****.

I have been a huge Humax fan for years but will probably upgrade to the new Manhattan box when it's eventually released.

In about 2038 when they eventually release it, they've delayed the release about 6 times now. The price is going to be pretty cheap though so hopefully they do release it soon.

Same price at Argos, Richer Sounds & Freeview

Picked up one of these last week. Nice box, but the iPhone app no longer works apparently - dunno if they're expected to fix that or not, so be wary if you're sold on the basis of remote recording, and streaming from the box to your phone over wifi etc
    Red_Shift's avatar
It will never be fixed and it never worked properly anyway
