I always wanted to have a bay like this. Pretty useful for making backups with cloning drives. This price takes us back to 2018

  • SUPER SPEED TRANSFER: Hard drive docking station is an excellent solution to connect your external HDD and SSD to your computer. The hard drive enclosure supports the UASP protocol and offers you an ultra-high data transfer rate of up to 5 Gbps when used with USB 3.0. For example, a high-resolution film can be transferred in a matter of seconds.
  • WIDE COMPATIBILITY: The dual hard drive docking station supports 2.5" 3.5" inch SATA SDD and HDD up to 40TB, (compatible sizes 9.5mm 12.5mm) It also supports Windows 11, Linux, Mac OS 8.0 and above.
  • SIMPLE PLUG & PLAY: This hard drive enclosure can be installed without tools. In addition, the blue indicator light gives an overview of the operating status
  • QUALITY: The shell made of high-quality ABS is not only non-slip but can also reduce the impact force, so the external hard drive enclosure of 2.5 inches can guarantee a secure connection during data transmission, protection from voltage, overcurrent, overheating, short circuits, leakage, and other multiple protections

These work really well, I just wish they were smart enough to clone a drive to a smaller drive. So many times I've had to clone a drive that is many TBs and the used space is like 100GB, makes it really expensive so I have to mess around doing it in software.

there definitely was (even a free) very easy to use software for this. I did this transfer myself.

1 drive was HDD 500GB (windows +data =100GB written data on it)
moving onto SSD 128 years ago

all it was i got a popup message saying new drive is smaller but still doable.

But entirely agree this should be available by default

Thanks. I regularly remove the HDD from my Zidoo streamer and currently plug it into a cheap powered flying lead SATA interface connected to my PC to add/delete movies, but it's fiddly and leaves the drive exposed to static or falling off the desk!
Having this dedicated plug-n-play box will be a lot safer and allow for easier backup of files between drives.

    Yep, exactly that!

This is a good price. I bought a similar Fideco one a few months ago, it does the job (they are very basic but useful) but I would have opted for the Sabrent if it was this price.

Just watch drive temperature - cant understand (other than cost!) why some of these dont have fans to cool the drives...

    Why would it need that!

Can I connect this to my Asus router via usb and use as a network drive while the HDDs attached to it? Will this consume less energy than small server pc? I will Google this but just asking if anyone knows on top of their head ,🙃

Power consumption for the device when empty would be an interesting figure to know (as they don't quote it even on their own website).

Obviously the drives in they will consume the same power whether in or out of a PC. (edited)

    good price with the voucher

the 4 drive caddy would have been useful if not for the £100 price tag

    Damn, missed it.

Would this work plugged into a NAS drive USB port to use two drives for external media storage?

Unless I am missing something the code is not available.

Which is lucky for my bank balance & the other kit it would be stacked on until it is used, if at all.

Hey this arrived and worked perfectly for what I needed to do with my old drives. Thanks!
