Are the new Paperwhites still worth the excess over the regular Kindles? I mean, now that the normal ones have a lit display would I be fine with that if I had an old Paperwhite (2018, I think) and I'm perfectly content with it?

I was in the same boat, ended up going with the basic which I'm really happy with.

The size of the basic makes it really portable, fits in my pant pockets, and I actually prefer the raised bezels around the screen, prevents accidentally turning pages

I would buy this but I can't work out how to apply the discount code. Really annoying when sites make it u necessarily complicated. I'm sure that they hope that you will fail to apply the code and pay the full price.

I would assume that it does, tbh. Don't think it states anywhere though.

How much are these an upgrade on older versions? I have a paperwhitr which must be nearly 10 years old and the battery is now steadily declining
    bozo007's avatar
Definitely an upgrade on processor, screen and storage.

Thanks for the post OP (pretty sure that means Original Poster). Good Deal and voted hot. My Kindle paperwhite is getting battery issues and is really old so this is tempting. I wonder if I need a Paperwhite though now the basic model includes lighting. I already use my 10" fire tablet for books if they are illustrated e.g. Cookery books and things like history books with maps. So my Kindle is used mainly for novels and other start at the beginning and read to the end books. But I do appreciate being able to vary the paper colour, I prefer a creamy sort of white to a blue - ish shade. Anyone whose swapped what do you think?
