So I have the smartband 6, is there really any point to upgrade?

The screen is nicer, but other than that, not really.

Mine is only the Band 5, but it works sufficiently well that after checking my pulse history, the doctors have put me on the path to a potential pacemaker. Because my pulse drops below 50 several times a day (but never at the time of testing) I have been in danger of collapsing. Luckily the monitor has picked it up for me. My lowest has been 41 bpm.
The thing that would really benefit these devices is a low pulse alarm. It will beep when you reach a high target, which is great when exercising, but not below a minimum, when you could keel over and die.

Garmin watches have low pulse and high pulse alarms. Get your doctor to check thyroid gland as well.

The watches are OK, and the monitoring works, but don't get your hopes up with trying to export your data using the Zepp app.
The first upgrade you want to do with these watches is replace the strap for a nice stainless steel one. I got mine off ebay. Easier to clean, and looks so much better

    How?

Even better price than last week with the £6 coupon!

Seems like it's an average activity tracker with poor sleep tracking. Great for the price!

Yep I stopped using mine as none of the data it collected was of any use.. I wanted it to track sleep but it was so innacurate it just became pointless. I have a Fitbit now which is much better and obviously more expensive so you get what you pay for. (edited)

I have the 6, great for linking to your phone for reading messages and letting you know if your phone is ringing, very handy for the office etc

fantastic device way more comfy than the previous gens, can't even tell its on my wrist.

let down by sync issues, mine just loses entire days of data which if you google is an issue many people have.

Still wear it for notifications and alarm though.
    samatshu's avatar
Perfect for notifications but the vibrations feel strong when in a quiet place. I know given time I can change those settings but my best one is the 7.

This dude tests smart watches/fitness bands and this apparently isn't great (edited)

There’s a great app that works with this but I forgot what it’s called. It gives you heart rate monitoring every second
  18. Raja007's avatar
    No NFC?

I just need a band under £30 even if not new that's works perfectly with Google fit app

Anyone got a link where I can buy a mi band that supports nfc in the uk for contactless payments? All the ones on aliexpress says nfc only works in china.
    EndemicAlarm's avatar
If you want NFC you have to - ironically - properly get your wallet out. Dollar store Chinesium devices, not so much.

I don't know in detail tbh so check my work but some fitness bands have Fitbit Pay which works in the UK. Or you might start getting into proper smartwatch territory with full Google Wallet support. (edited)

Upgraded to Garmin Sq2, bigger screen and NFC are nice but having to install a separate app and fiddle with settings for many functions that were supported by mi band out of the box is annoying .. stuff like weather forecast, steps sync to google health etc. Will go back to mi bands if it breaks.

I've got one of these and paid full price for it. The battery life isn't as good as the MiBand 6 I had previously and it's worse if you use the Always On Display (I need to charge it every 5-6 days with AOD on) but the display is a significant improvement and exercise tracking seems better. Also be aware the MiBand 8 means you have to use the Mi Fitness app and this is OK BUT you can't set the units to Imperial so all the units are in Metric (a minor annoyance and but they still haven't fixed it).
    Lil6ix's avatar
Yeah I also got bummed and payed full price

I know these are water resistant but I wonder how it works with heat. I have the band 6, after swimming and a shower, I went into the steam room and it just stopped working. It started again a few minutes afterwards I came out of the steam. The same thing happened in the sauna.
