About this deal

Great news for Tidal subscribers, or anyone keen to give it a try – the high-res streaming service has announced that its monthly cost is coming down, across all regions.

As part of a move to simplify its subscription tiers, it will no longer keep its high-res, lossless and spatial audio content locked behind a £20-per-month “HiFi Plus” subscription. Instead, it will be moved into a single individual user plan, costing a Spotify-matching £11 per month.

Currently, users pay that price for CD-quality FLAC files, but need to opt for the pricier plan to unlock 24-bit/192kHz tracks and Dolby Atmos content.

That will all change from 10th April when the new plans will be implemented. This will also include the Family plan, for up to six family members for £17 per month, and the Student Plan, offering the same as the Individual plan, but at a 50% discount, now costing just £5 a month.

I saw this the other day. Might be interesting to see how much the VPN prices come down before deciding to sign up again.

After the Argentina stopped I went with Chile which was £5 pm but had the email last week and it’s dropping to £3 from April

Is this available? Showing as £19.99 for me. Or do we need to wait until April?

I believe it will automatically change on the 10th April.

I'd go for this if the deal for Deezer using a Turkish Gmail account last year didn't just refresh itself

Ha! Mine just did the same. £5.14 for the year.

I hope this comes through. I love listening to the lossless music but couldn’t justify paying this aswell as Spotify. The song availability isn’t as good as Spotify but the quality is leagues better.

Spotify's library is 80 million songs, Tidal's is 90 million but Spotify do have a lot more niche genres like Anime and Video game soundtracks.

Annoying still no Alexa/Google support in the UK so need to keep spotify instead. (edited)

This is the bit I needed, I loved the sound through my Naim speakers. But also perfer being able to ask Alexa, etc. To play music.

I signed up for (I think) Nigeria and it was $4.67 USD per month. It's now going to be $2.56 USD per month

Same here, although like you I can't remember which country I ended up using when Argentina went.

Spotify is almost perfect for me. If they would just move to Hi-res and improve the playlist ordering and maybe the queue system.. i personally don't use queuing as i just create / use playlists - but my mate thinks it's sh*t when we are together. So just tried tidal again and no Sonos connect via PC app is such a annoyance!

Why is sorting so bad on these music apps? I like listening to cover versions. If I search for a song title (by track) it will give me loads of duplicates by the same artist (and same length), similar titles before exact matches, and you can't even sort the searches.

They shot themselves in the foot charging daft money at the start I ditched them for Amazon then ditched Amazon for Apple and Spacial Audio which also now has plenty of decent Hi Def tracks as well. Don’t miss Tidal

Has the vpn paying abroad not stopped for all the subscriptions? I cannot get payment to process using starling or revolute

My vpn wouldn't work either so I used my spare email address for a months free trial then got an email offering me 2 months for 60p. Took that offer, and to be honest the Tidal hifi price for the same as I was paying for spotify isn't really that bad so I will probably go for that after the two months is up.

So hi fi plus will become £10.99 per month, is that correct? Currently paying £20 for Qobuz. If I can save £10 per month I might move over.
    ccmac2013's avatar
Save £9 a month, bad maths on my part.

Hopefully this will shame Spotify into finally launching hifi for those of us with ears.

I think Spotify Hi Fi was going to be CD quality. There are now higher res streams available with Qobuz and Tidal. Maybe Spotify has had to go back to the drawing board. I wouldn't move for CD quality when I am already getting 24 bit 192 kHz on some tracks. (edited)

Took this out when it was cheap through the Argentina deal, mainly to use when my other half was on my Spotify account. I had loads of issues with the Android app and my Sonos speakers where it would refuse to play on the right speaker or wouldnt transfer to a different speaker once I had started it playing. When the Argentina loophole closed I couldnt be bothered trying to find another way to get it as the combination of the issues I'd already had plus the lack of voice assistant support just made it more trouble than it was worth.

I had the same sub from Argentina and worked fine on my sonos group. Only cancelled it ad they worked out I was in the UK after 9 months

Is it integrated as well as Spotify with alexa?
    DanMck's avatar
Not in the UK only in the US. Someone posted a work around above but requires creating amazon us accounts and changing locations not ideal for a constant UK Amazon user.

This is a great deal. Definitely will rejoin.

Does anyone know if the VPN loophole been closed for good now? Just tried ARG on Starling and seems like a no-go. Thinking is it worth try NRA with something like Revolut.

I've tried a few and none work. But please report back of you find one

Even better news! Especially for ROON users. That means it’ll cost just over a fiver to have both Qobuz and Tidal subscriptions.

For us Columbians at $15000, that’s currently £3.07.  (edited)
