£179 for a controller. The world's gone mad!
  2. AJ321's avatar
    Why is this so expensive
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
Because less than 1% of the gaming population convinced these megacorps they're willing to bend over FORWARDS and pay whatever they ask for, for the smallest of advantages. (edited)

Let me get this straight....£179 for a...controller? What's so special about it? Does it make you a drink or cook your food or do the dishes?
    HovisUK's avatar
As I've just commented elsewhere you can fix stick drift yourself easy enough, it's just dust on the sensors. Take the controller apart as per YouTube and use some.alcohol and cotton buds or wipes, you don't even need new parts .
I have to do it every year or so with mine, kids leave the controllers down the side of the sofa...

Almost 200 quid for a controller
    hencam's avatar
Nobody is forcing you to buy it!
  5. Misterdriver's avatar
Anyone know if this is more gentle on the thumbs? I get awful pains using the standard dualsense
    Rone's avatar
Have you tried thumb grips? Example:
    52687433-dbE3r.jpgYou can get various styles.

Take another £130 off and I might consider purchasing

To the people complaining, you are comedy. You are not the target audience for this controller. This is overkill for the average Joe coming back from his 9-5 and playing for an hour after the kids are tucked into bed.

In games where milliseconds matter and you're playing for money or just want to focus on becoming better at the game, this controller stops you taking your right thumb off the aiming stick so you can perform other actions in the game.

Just say it's not for you and move on
    TCMoneyy's avatar
If you are playing in a tournament setting and other people are using this controller against you with a normal controller, do you really think you stand a chance? Understand it from the point of view you're not looking at it from.

For everyone saying this is expensive, yes of course it is but this is also the price dictated by the market (albeit a niche one). Xbox Elite 2, Scuff, Razer, etc. are all around the £150-200 price point. You get paddles, remappable buttons, weighty thumbsticks, removable caps, etc. To some that’s worth it
    Seanspeed's avatar
People can be convinced that many things are 'worth it', when they're simply terribly priced and getting ripped off.

Controllers are far too unreliable to be spending literally HALF THE PRICE OF A CONSOLE just on one of these, when you'll more than likely need to replace it in like three or four years.
  9. Moss.b's avatar
Should come with lifetime warrenty. Bet these get stick drift not sure how much replacements are?
    kappaz187's avatar
    Replacement sticks are £20 each

Hot! But still not bitting it
    Freedom249's avatar
    Completely agree HOLD!!!!!!!
  11. wombat57484's avatar
Anyone with one of these finding they're good VFM? I can see the appeal if a third party has released hall effect sticks, though that's still a considerable investment
    Raaawr's avatar
It's basically the dualsense in terms of buttons, shape, quality with removal sticks&paddels so it doesn't feel like it's value for money since those don't justify a £120 increase .

In contrast the launch Xbox elite had a better feel all around, different shell, rubber grips etc. and felt like you were paying for premium components. I mention the elite because that's what the edge was trying to be.

Unfortunately the third party pro controllers all have some form of drawback. I'd just just buy a new dualsense if you don't need the back paddles since the ps6 will introduce a new controller in a few years. (edited)

lol no wonder inflation doesn't come down if this is a hot deal

This needs to get more upvotes.

Consumerism has gone out of control, especially after Covid, which is why greedflation has been so successful.

    Thanks!

Glad to see someone knows how this website works. Don’t understand why people are voting cold, I’d like to see them buy it from a reputable retailer any cheaper
  15. xxbluedragonxx's avatar
Wait what? £179 for a controller? I thought this was a typo and should’ve said £17.90…. Insane!
  16. ObiMikenobi77's avatar
Heat for the price, but I would never forgive myself for spending £179 on a controller!

    Complete rip off (edited)

I’ve had normal controllers since launch and nothing wrong with them.
Just don’t see why anyone would spend this much on a controller 🤷‍♂️
    hencam's avatar
Luckily not everyone is the same.

    Voted hot, good price 🔥

My biting point is £150. It's getting close but not quite there yet. Heated though for being best price at the moment.
    Rone's avatar
I'm guessing it will be around black Friday when it hits that price point
  22. Fake_beans's avatar
I was legit just about to pop down to Argos to buy one at full price as my current controller has stick drift. Thanks OP, saved me £30

pro gamers need pro controllers am i right
  23. faythy's avatar
Hope the battery life is better than the standard controller. My Xbox SX controller lasts about 4 times longer than the ps5 version.
    GOODSTUFF's avatar
lol its worse than a standard dualsense
  24. HotOrNotYouDecide's avatar
Do I get a PlayStation as well or just a controller? Sorry, slightly confused, I thought controllers were about £30. I’m an old man so not up to speed with you young whippersnappers.
    Swidc's avatar
I can only understand this for those frustrated gamers who smash the normal ones every time they lose or fail a mission.... Maybe this is more sturdy I don't know.
Mad to think people can spend this money on it
  25. fillroyy's avatar
    Lol, utter rubbish.

For everyone complaining, you don’t need the console with this, it’s built into the controller. You save a lot of money if you don’t need the console. (edited)

my kd went down with this and my hands got fatigued more frequently (edited)
    FireFreeAFC's avatar
I bought it but really struggled to get use to the back triggers. Only thing I like about it is reducing the trigger movement and being able to change the joysticks if they get stick drift. (edited)
  31. asandino's avatar
great controller, but the battery is a bit of a let down, it last less than the normal controllers. Still very nice controller and the way to configure the buttons is sooooo easy in comparison to the xbox elite.
Very pricey but if you can afford it and want one then go for it.
I got it from cex with vouchers that I had from old things that I sold (my way of feeling better and justifying the purchase :p) (edited)
    RJA964's avatar
The battery is already trash on the regular dualsense.

I miss the DS4 battery life which seemed to last twice as long I feel like.

Great price. I paid £170 on eBay open not used. Currently the best deal out there good find
  33. mattk's avatar
Heat given as best current price. I'd only get one at £100 or less. Could be a long wait but I'm willing to be patient for the price to come down to what I think it's worth.

Great deal and find OP! I have this controller, not worth the premium price, but it’s a great controller!

Heat for the price! And it's the expected comments when these posts come up. These are well worth the money if you play fast moving online games like COD etc as the paddles really do make a difference. Yes they are expensive but that is where the markets at for pro controllers.
  37. ryker's avatar
Not worth it unless you can get a lifetime warranty or cover plan or else once you get hit with stick drift, or worse a worn out button than isn't responsive gg
    FrostyGlovez's avatar
Stick drift? Aren’t these sticks entirely removable and replaceable thus an entire reason for purchasing i thought.
  38. secretmsg's avatar
    Unlimited battery

Worth just to save yourself from carpal tunnel syndrome if you play cod a lot and want short click triggers, and sprint/ crouch not under thumbsticks Just more comfort alone might be worth it long term (edited)
    Craccer's avatar
Find he opposite tbh. Also play a lot of cod, have found these ps5 controllers the most uncomfortable and damaging controllers to my hands. More to do with the thumbsticks and size of the controller than the back buttons though, which do help.
