Nice price this one. Will be unlocked from Voxi. Best choice at this price right now? Was cheaper from Voxi in the past, but because the pixel 8a has just been released at more than this, this still seems worth it.

  • About this item
  • Google Tensor G3 is Pixel's most powerful chip yet. It makes Pixel 8 fast and efficient. And Google AI gives you personalised help throughout the day.
  • The 6.2-inch, high-resolution display delivers sharp, vivid colours and detail. And it has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for smoother scrolling.
  • Pixel's Adaptive Battery can last over 24 hours. Turn on Extreme Battery Saver, and it can last up to 72 hours. And it charges faster than ever.
  • Did someone blink or look away? Pixel's Best Take combines similar photos into one fantastic picture where everyone looks their best.
  • Audio Magic Eraser uses Google AI to reduce disruptive noises like cars and wind and to highlight the sounds that you want.
  • With Pixel's signature Night Sight and Astrophotography, take pictures of city lights, starry skies and everything in between
  • With VPN by Google One built in, Pixel helps protect your online activity no matter what app or web browser you use
  • Pixel 8 can handle water and dust with its durable design and IP68 protection.¹ And it's scratch-resistant, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus
  • With Live Translate, interpret face-to-face conversations in 49 languages, chat in real time and translate menus with your camera
  • Pixel 8 raises the bar for beautiful design with contoured edges, a satin finish and stylish colours. And it's made with recycled materials

Go via Topcasbback comparison and both e2save and Mobiles.co.uk are offering the Mint Pixel 8 at £49 up front and £19.99 a month with 500Gb of data and £23 cashback. That's 2 years for £528.76 before cashback.
    EndemicAlarm's avatar
Realistically it'll be £550+ because of the annual price rise.

£25 cashback with TCB but same was the case last time when it was £395.20.

Also, last time you could get the £10 knocked off with a first month free code from Totum etc. but not this time.

If you've got an old Pixel that you want to upgrade from then buying the 8a now with the £150 trade-in boost from Google, going through TCB for 5% cashback and upgrading temporarily to the 2TB Google One Plan at £7.99/month for the 10% Google Store Credit at £49.90 is perhaps a better deal.

    If you value Google Store Credit then for example trading in a Pixel 3a = £499 - £49.90 Google Store Credit - say £20 TCB - £204 trade-in for the 3a + £7.99 for Google One = £233.09 effective for an 8a.

Whilst you could sell a 3a yourself, you won't get very much at all for one, say £50, so comparatively £438.40 - £25 TCB - £50 for private sale of 3a = £363.40 = £130 or so difference including the value of the Google Store Credit.

If you don't value Google Store Credit then this does become a closer consideration. (edited)

Do the voxi phones come modified at all? Like is there a voxi logo or loading screen. I remember a long time ago three used to do this. Or is it completely stock pixel

You're going back decades - you must be old like me.

Networks don't have this stupid bespoke software anymore. Thankfully.

Not the same can be said for those in the US.

Do I need to take out a contract? It says no, but makes you select one before you can proceed. Or is it one of the knew I can cancel after the first month?
    Mr.Plow's avatar
It's a 30 day bundle so although you have to select one if you're not already a voxi customer then you simply turn off auto renewal.

Decent deal given the prices now. If you can wait however I would wait as the pixel 8 price has been lower and is likely to go even lower

Better buy than the 8a if currently in the market

To judge by the history of the Pixel 7, it may not change much until we are nearer the launch of the 9.

A bit off topic I know, but can anyone recommend the smallest Apple phone that is still worth buying, the mic on my Sony ZX1 compact has just packed in and I fancy a change.
    Thanks.

13 mini is SMALL and the last small one they did that was handheld, then you are up to their standard line, ie, normal 14 or 15

Agree with you it was cheaper, but the last two Pixel 8 deals have went hot at more than this, so thought this was still worth sharing, appreciate the polite comment though

Is this a good deal? Do you think next week at the io conference they'll announce pixel 9 or will they stick to October for it
    MrSwitch's avatar

October, and yeah, if you take into consideration the pixel 8a at more with worse specs

Excellent price - I paid more recently direct from the Google Store but they were offering an enhanced Trade-in so got £306 for my Pixel 7. Excellent price, heat.

Tempting, but just reading an article on Zero Hedge regarding smartphone brand loyalty, and Google comes out very poor compared to Apple and Samsung, which puts me off somewhat (edited)
    Njay's avatar
True, but in the case of Samsung they seem to be going away from Google in terms of integration.

E.g. on s23 it prompts for saving passwords etc for websites to samsung cloud and for opening docs the default is office 365 so need a Microsoft account. I suspect most Android users are used to doing this via Google services.

Even setting the phone up you couldn't do it automatically via Google services as it pushes you down the samsung smart switch route rather than giving you option to choose.

Seem very much like Samung want their own eco system like Apple
