This is the 2022 flagship - still decent, and still a bargain, I think, especially for anyone who doesn't have access to the BLC discounts

No brainer for one of the best TVs you can buy

This is an epic TV. We have one and G3 as well. The main differences to G3 (and G4 I would argue is incremental) is the G2 cannot pass through DTS / DTS MA / DTS:X etc (though you can end up with LPCM I guess) and the G3 has a brighter panel, which you would only notice more I guess in sunlight.

The DTS item is not a huge issue as most new Blu-ray releases seem to have TrueHD (and often with Atmos), bar Christopher Nolan who still insists on using DTS MA 5.1! Also PS5 and XBX both support Atmos anyway (XSX will passthrough TrueHD in Plex as well)

The software itself is fast, and the built in apps as good as AppleTV etc (support DV, Atmos over DD+ etc). Obviously Plex is exception as if you want TrueHD passthrough you will need to use XSX, Nvdia Shield, or other android boxes (edited)

Can you explain this pass through issue in simple terms please? I didn't understand half of what you wrote

I have a blu ray connected to an amp which in turn is connected to the telly and I watch mainly old bluray releases. Would the lack of pass through affect me?

I keep waiting for someone to bundle a soundbar with this, not sure how much longer I can wait!

G2 prices have dropped so low now I would be surprised to see a soundbar thrown in on top but who knows. In case you hadn't noticed, there does seem to be a lot of people selling unused bundled soundbars at cheap prices so may be worth considering that route. I saw an unopened box GX soundbar advertised for 250 yesterday and no one seemed to be biting, so deals to be had.

That said, if a soundbar is important to you and you are not in a rush, I wouldn't be surprised to see G3 deals with bundled soundbars again. I went for a G2 myself but the good G3 deals with soundbar available at the time made it a tough choice.

What's the warranty on this though through Amazon?

Good but if you don't want to wall mount the 65" stand is hard to find now, only seems to available for £219.60 from LG which is a bit expensive, and it's not meant to be a great stand anyway.

Don't know if the G3 stand would fit, it certainly looks the same.

To add to what's already been said about stands I'm sure some looking to buy it have one of the various Ikea Besta TV benches, they do a stand called Uppleva that attaches to the back of that cabinet and gets it pretty close to looking wall mounted.

This or the c3 version…. Not much difference in price these days.

I just got the 65" c3 for £1068 using 3 codes and Quidco cashback.

Hey, nice post. I have been watching the LG OLED G2/C3 65" deals for a while and will more than likely pull the trigger soon!

This model is the AEK model and have read here what AEK means. Our of interest, does anyone have any ideas how many generations of this TV there have been, and how this model differ from the models without this code?
    KendallC's avatar
I had no idea about this so thanks for pointing it out. I just looked on the back of mine, bought
direct from LG recently. It has a 2024 manufacturing date and a DEK code on it. Hope that helps.

When reading chats about the TV from when it first came out, it seems a lot of people were having something they referred to as coil whine issues that seemed to effect the 65" model the most. Can't say I've noticed anything like they had described with mine but if this one does turn out to be old stock, it's perhaps something you may want to listen out for as soon as you get it in case a return is needed.

I do wonder though if this may be a case of Amazon not updating the title and you may well actually end up with a later model being delivered. (edited)

Price has gone up now to 1096

No still at £1087 from Crampton & Moore - make sure to look at the 'Other sellers on Amazon' button further down below the price - Amazon love to show you the seller they're trying to promote, rather than the seller that might be right for you!
  17. mattzildjian's avatar
I'm suprised this is still available, I think more stock keeps coming in also.
    joetheheartbreaker's avatar
Spoke to richersounds today and they said they have ran out of stock and will be receiving one last batch within 2-3 weeks.
  18. d13nam's avatar

Patiently waiting for the G2 deal to come back on the LG website and get it for under £900 like it was last month.

Still showing in stock on the website so hoping one last mega deal before they run out of stock!
    clayts's avatar
The 55 inch is back in stock - not seeing the 65. Unless you grabbed the one and only unit they had ?

Correction - price showing but also showing 'stock alert' button. Some scoundrel must have it in their basket. (edited)
  22. Suntory_Times's avatar
Does the g2 get the 5 year OS updates like the new 2024 TVs? Same webOS for them all?
    skip112's avatar
I've got a feeling it's just the 2024 onwards models, but someone please confirm
  23. jayjayjetplane's avatar

What does op mean ‘especially for those without BLC’? Is there a good BLC discount?
    solid's avatar
    Author
There were deals that used the BLC discounts to get a better price

This is a reasonable price for those of us that don't have access to BLC
  26. johnj60's avatar
Can anyone confirm if the width on these is exactly 1441mm as stated as this would be going in a recess within a few mm of this?
