I'm getting really confused with trying to work out the cost of charging a battery.

I've looked at some sites that say 10-15p but then others that say £5.

I was looking at a 36v battery bike 10ah. I think I deduced it would cost around £3 at 85p per kWh.....someone please correct me if well out.

For those that do not know.....decathlon is part of some cycle to work schemes so you could also get the tax breaks from salary sacrifice. I've been looking at decathlon because of this. (edited)

Battery capacity is measured in Wh. In this case 380 Wh or 0.380 KWh

Assuming a rate of 35p/KWh you’d pay ~13.3p to fully charge. (edited)

My mate has one and we ride the Trans Pennine Trail most weeks. Decent performance and we’ve done 26 mile trips with decent elevation (Oxspring nr Penistone if anyone knows it) with battery capacity to spare. Tyre compound looks quite soft but the bike generally has no issues other than the range drops noticeably in cold weather - all e-bikes (mine included) are the same. (edited)

I've got a much more expensive Ebike (that I worked very hard to be able to buy), but if this was all I was able to afford I would buy it in a heartbeat, great value for the money. (edited)

Any at this price with throttle?

That would be illegal to ride on the road.

Decathlon are good for making decent budget bikes but I'm not sure what this offering is for.

It's not a good enough mountain bike to give a decent off-road experience and as it's a mountain bike it will be a rather poor commuter.

Mountain bikes make decent commuters if you can bodge on a rack and some mudguards.

Got 1 similar EST 500, had about 3 years from here. Motor just packed up, it gave up whilst I was few miles from home, its a beast to cycle without the motor, also had pannier bags full of shopping. Weighed a ton!
Can you repair/change motor or are they sealed up? I had power, as was still showing on display, just motor gave up. Will I have to get a new wheel?

More likely the controller has blown. Probably a transistor blew, can happen on cheapo controllers at full load, like going up a hill.

Does this model stop at traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, & not go the wrong way up one way streets? If so I might be interested.

Nope, this has the optional extra 2 wheels meaning it accounts for almost all road deaths in the UK. (edited)

It's not what I would want to spend £900 on. I self built buying a hardtail and fitted a bafang bbs02 and a 16Ah hailong battery and was still a couple of hundred less than this. (edited)

Converted my specialized hard rock MTB. 2000w motor pulls like a train. £750 and bike I had from 8 years ago. Stick some schwalbe tyres on and slime innertubes and good to go

Also mines the rear wheel motor. (edited)

With ebike prices starting to come down I think it's about time they offered something of an amnesty for petrol dirt bikes, where you can trade them in for a voucher for something like this. Would still be idiots riding them, but they're a hell of a lot less disruptive and damaging.

Seems pretty decent for the price, weight 22kg which is heavy but expected for that range.
