For those looking for Lebanese pound to GBP conversion, don't use Google.
Use Visa's Exchange Rate Calculator or Mastercard's Currency Converter Calculator

Am I missing something? Isn't 356,400 LL £19 or so?

Lebanon's currency is pegged to the dollar - and it has been for many years. It is pegged at 15,000 LBP to 1 USD.

That means the official rate for GBP is about 0.000052 pence per 1 LBP.

However the unofficial rate of exchange is much different, and both VISA and Mastercard's rate of exchange is 0.000009. So nearly 6x fewer GBP for your LBP.

So that's why you're seeing Google report differently from what you're charged, as your bank will use VISA or Mastercard's rate.

Tax avoidance and falsely claiming to be a student of the "Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts ", the first is very much a crime, the second, well it depends. I'd not be doing it myself.

It's a bit different to using a VPN to get the website to show a cheaper price i.e an airline or Amazon and then paying the correct tax and providing a correct address. (edited)
    HellRazer's avatar
Are you able to explain how this is tax avoidance please so others can be made aware.

I use a 15 year old version of Photoshop occasionally, but I'm interested if this would be useful for my 8 year old son who does YouTube videos.

We currently use the free video editor on Windows. Would this be better or are the aby other free or cheap alternatives?

Davinci Resolve is a free and very powerful video editor

I'm sceptical, won't there be any repercussions for doing this? Lying about attending a Lebanese school.. kinda sketch. You're giving your bank info away so they'll easily detect you.
    JohnnyBlazeon's avatar
The other option, which is probably less sketch, is to just sign up without declaring that you're a teacher/student - "In the normal version, without EDU (teacher/student tariff) for almost ten euros per year (9.45€ via Revolut)" mydealz.de/com…047

Paying via Starling sets it at £8.11 for me

Wow, fraud, misrepresenting student status, and screwing over a country with a plunging currency—a triple threat! Absolutely mind-blowing that staff repeatedly allow this on here.
    Kyballion's avatar
    Yeah that's how business works

17 billion in profits up to may 2023

They don't invoice the Lebanese people directly so the state won't profit from any tax

All invoices are routed through various low tax havens.

    Go figure

We have paid for a service

Not our problem if a company working on high end computing coding can't fix a silly bug/oversight like this

Anyways, I'm enjoying my creative suite

    Live a little

A big win for the little man

wouldn't work for me...would love something at a similar price, £20+ a month is just stupid for someone who rarely uses it

UPDATE...I did get it working, signed up for revolt and did it that way (edited)

If you're going to do this, watch out. Creative Cloud offered me some kind of "integrity check" the other day to "check my pc to make sure it had only adobe genuine apps and no malicious software". I don't have any anymore but declined anyway... Sneaky b'stards. (edited)
  13. Azwipe's avatar
It's well and truly over, the deal has even been removed from the German site who found it.

No it hasn't, the link still works fine...

Population of Lebanon is over 5,2 million. Let’s say 10% are creative people interested in this kind of software. So just over half a million. That’s probably a fair number, isn’t it? I bet Adobe had about couple of million new “Lebanon” subscribers in the past few days. No, they probably didn’t think it was suspicious
  15. daastle's avatar
Is this effectively cheaper than turkey ?

No, they're about £80 for a medium size one.

Does seem a bit dodgy. If you were doing it would be tempted just to do the non-edu Lebanon version which is £9 and doesn't involve saying you are a teacher at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts.
    cocobwoy's avatar
Do you have a link for the non-edu one please?
  18. vladdy's avatar
Non-edu in Lebanon seems to be around £9 as well if you don't want to be a student

Thanks I'd literally just started paying £10 per month for the Adobe Express online app alone after a free trial ended (I actually logged in to cancel that first and got a notification telling me the £10 would be refunded - bonus) but this is obviously far better value.

I followed the advice provided by to get the individual / non student version for £8.11 (with Starling, using a virtual card), would rather not have to prove anything and happy with £8.11, still a fantastic deal however you look at it.
  21. kchlai's avatar
It's gone through like £3.2X for me, but conversion sites say 356,400 is around ~£18? Was this 1 year intro price cause I don't see it on invoice/billing history
    underfamed's avatar
On the first page of this deal there’s a very good comment explaining the difference in exchange rates from card issuers and the actual dollar peg of Lebanon’s currency, worth a read for an explanation

So, bye bye cheap Adobe subscription. A fresh email from Adobe received today:

„We hope you are enjoying Creative Cloud All Apps (100Gb). We want to share an important update about your subscription price. You purchased your subscription using Lebanon as your purchase country. However, your subscription has been used predominantly in Great Britain. In order for you to continue to use your subscription, you will have to subscribe at the current price for Great Britain.

To avoid disruption to your work, we will migrate you to a new subscription within the next 30 days reflecting Great Britain as your country of usage, and the applicable subscription price of your plan. The new subscription terms will be the same as the terms under which you signed up, other than price. The price of Creative Cloud All Apps (100Gb) will change from LBP 891240 /annually to GBP 546.84 plus 20.0% tax /annually. For your annual, prepaid plan, as your plan is migrated to Great Britain, you will receive a pro rata refund for the original annual, prepaid plan in Lebanon.

    (…)

If you take no action, your new subscription term will start within the next 30 days, after which you will have 14 days to cancel and receive a full refund.
Your new subscription will automatically renew annually at the standard subscription rate until you cancel (price subject to change). You will also receive a confirmation email containing the subscription detail terms.”

It looks like the full amount, 356,400 (yr) is just £3.26. Got it and it reads:
    - You're being chargedLL 356,400/yr
    On my Revolut card:
    - Paid LBP356,400 (£3.26)
  24. charliecroker1966's avatar
I may steal £20 notes out of my kid's purse but I would never dare dream of using a fake place of study or adaptation of my home address or use a revolut virtual card in this manner to snatch a deal.

How does 356,400 convert to £3.24? I searched for conversuon and its like £18
    GMac11's avatar
This was explained a couple of times way early on in this thread by people much more clued in than myself. However I’ll try and summarise (apologies for any inaccuracies):
While Lebanon has its own currency it is so weak it is actually traded in US Dollars. So when you do your Google exchange it is giving you the US Dollar equivalent.
When you actually pay you are getting the exchange rate as agreed between your card provider and the merchant (in this case Adobe’s Lebanon based company).
  29. acelove's avatar
When it asks for credit card, do you keep it as Lebanon, or change it to the UK again?

The thing that caught me out is it didn't like icloud addresses. Try another email (I used a tempmail throughaway). If you are on a VPN, disconnect so that doesn't flag on their systems.

I finally managed to get this transaction through using Revolut late yesterday after many attempts. I went back into the Revolut app and noticed a warning regarding blocked transactions on the virtual and single-use cards. I clicked on the latest blocked transaction, unlocked the card and made sure I had the minimum funds (£10) and it all worked ok.
    Good luck!
