I have one of these as my daily driver and it's been a great processor for gaming and general usage.

Key Features

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X is a desktop processor with 8 cores, launched in April 2022, at an MSRP of $299. It is part of the Ryzen 7 lineup, using the Zen 3 (Vermeer) architecture with Socket AM4. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) the core-count is effectively doubled, to 16 threads. Ryzen 7 5700X has 32 MB of L3 cache and operates at 3.4 GHz by default, but can boost up to 4.6 GHz, depending on the workload. AMD is building the Ryzen 7 5700X on a 7 nm production process using 4,150 million transistors. The silicon die of the chip is not fabricated at AMD, but at the foundry of TSMC. You may freely adjust the unlocked multiplier on Ryzen 7 5700X, which simplifies overclocking greatly, as you can easily dial in any overclocking frequency.

With a TDP of 65 W, the Ryzen 7 5700X consumes typical power levels for a modern PC. AMD's processor supports DDR4 memory with a dual-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 3200 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. ECC memory is supported, too, which is an important capability for mission-critical systems, to avoid data corruption. For communication with other components in the system, Ryzen 7 5700X uses a PCI-Express Gen 4 connection. This processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card.

Hardware virtualization is available on the Ryzen 7 5700X, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) will run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications. Besides AVX, AMD is including the newer AVX2 standard, too, but not AVX-512.

I would rather spend an extra £15 and get the Ryzen 7 5700X3D from AliExpress

I got a Graded 5800x for £128 from CCL (said it was from a cancelled pc build), returned it though after reading how hot they run (AMD saying 85-90c is normal).

Well that's odd, I have my lads pc build running that 5800x 360mm aio, idle 24 degrees, under full load 65-70 max with custom fan curves set in bios,
But yes the cpu can handle that temp that's how it's been designed 🤷 (edited)

Was planning to get this for a family member they have a 3700x paired with a rtx 3060 12gb upgrading the 3700x cpu to a 5700x will they see much gain in gaming they game at 1080p 144hz

There may be some difference but I would not think it will be a major change especially at 1080p. Will probably get a few more FPS but likely not noticeable.
