Fan noise was not bad TBH when not under load (ie gaming). For gaming fan noise was on the slightly high side IMHO, nothing that some headphones would not drown out.
    Other impressions:
Solid build quality, good keyboard and trackpad.
Also I liked the size of the charger which was not too massive compared to other gaming laptops, but that may be because was limited to 200w.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the touchpad on this please? I currently have an Acer laptop and the touchpad is absolutely unusable, so really want to make sure it's better on the next laptop I buy.

Also any ideas on battery life? I generally assume it's going to be pretty bad on a gaming laptop but just wanted to see.

No idea about trackpad, but returns with amazon should be easy enough if you aren't happy with it. In regards to battery life, it's 90whr battery so a decent sized battery, however it has an intel cpu so the battery life will be pretty poor. If you want a decent battery life go for an AMD cpu ideally and something with a 90+ whr battery.

Hmm with all the horrible stories about Asus warranty in the US I'd be cautious about buying from them.
    Gztsby's avatar
well its 10x worse in the UK so don't worry about the US

These Amazon deals are useless man, they change the price after 2 minutes. Already went back up.

Decent was tracking this as well. 1600 at Argos, laptops direct etc. might hold off to see what happens with the zenbook pro 16 oled.

If you buy an intel machine now you're basically buying a dying architecture
    Solee's avatar
Depends. I use intel in most cases due to compatibility with premier pro and quick sync is too useful not to have.
  9. nerdrage's avatar
I wouldn't buy anything from Asus at the moment.

Shame it's not an OLED, would be tempted for the 4070 at this price otherwise (edited)
    guyjc's avatar
    It is an OLED though.
  11. You_Ben's avatar
    That's a very good price.

If you guys rhjnk asus is bad, I would gladly share the horror story I've had with Lenovo.
    Gztsby's avatar
Would like you to share it to be fair, never had a problem with them they even honour warranty on secondhand purchases.
  14. aadaman's avatar
is the ram fixed size or upgradeable?
    Solee's avatar
    Seems it's upgradable

What's quality like on these I know some of the other asus books are pretty trash

I wonder if it will go back to £1058 like last time, posted an offer unnecessarily, you could have waited for a reduction. Let's hope no one buys and the price comes down (edited)

I've been tracking the price of this specific configuration on camelcamelcamel and this is the lowest it has been on Amazon

About to pull the plug on this deal and get it!!!
What’s the wattage for the GPU? Going to be using it for light gaming. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated guys!
    tahir2's avatar
The Asus site only mentions up to 120W+ total graphics power.
  18. heman's avatar
Had this for a short while, decided to return as battery life quite underwhelming. Specs are decent for the price as a desktop replacement.
    WTFreddie's avatar
How were the thermals and fan noise? (edited)
  19. RamJagRuice's avatar
    Is it really oled?
    heman's avatar
    No, IPS panel.
  20. sandyb86's avatar
Is this good for web browsing and watching YouTube?
    heman's avatar
Yes. But so is a sub £500 laptop.
  21. dangordon's avatar
Shame it doesn't have a UK keyboard, none of them do.
    LaptopDealsEU's avatar
Of course it does. Why are you misleading others?

I recently got one of the lower versions of the Vivobook. As long as you dont mind heating your swimmers, then its fine, but this one might get a lot hotter? The fan seems to be underside, so on your lap they get blocked and it heats up.
