    Great price for a new i3 12th gen pc🔥🔥

Having used a a similar Inspiron 15 model, only complaint I have is with its hinge mechanism and how the top lid unfolds under the base. Poor design.

One hinge on my laptop broke after 2 months of use. Sent to Dell under warranty and it came back repaired after a month with multiple dents on body and camera issues. DId not bother for re-repair.

Besides this it works great. (edited)

I think the point of the hinge unfolding under the base is to allow airflow through the vents.

    Hi there,

Can anyone confirm what the max memory upgrade is on this (assuming a extra stick to 16gb), if it can be changed?

Same for the the storage will it accept a 1 or 2tb M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD?

    cheers
    Barbarasaywellgmail.com_S's avatar
    Take up to 2 x 32gb and mini M.2 x 2 NVMe

Hi All, laptop is arriving today and found these deals for SDD and Ram

    SDD
    amazon.co.uk/gp/…37/

    RAM
    amazon.co.uk/gp/…S4/

I can pick up the ram for about tenner (many to chose from) as many have said here, so that not a issue!

Just want the SSD to be brand new, wanted to check if the above SSD is a good average price for a NVMe SSD (never bought one before)! The 2TB seem to be around the 110 mark!

    Cheers

Can this use ddr 5 ram?
    Jimmy_Chou's avatar
    No.
  5. Andrew_Hunnisett's avatar
Take it this would be fine to use for uni work. Browsing journal articles, writing assignment, Ms teams etc
    Jimmy_Chou's avatar
Yes, but I'd still upgrade the RAM to 16GB for the sake of about £10.

Is it IPS or TN panel?

    WVA = Dell's IPS.

Ordered this earlier today, arriveing Monday.

Any good prices out there for a 1- 2tb nvme and 8gb ram stick?

Might get a win 10 pro key and do a clean install with the 2 upgrades.

Anyone done that before with a new basic laptop or have you just transferred the smaller SSD to bigger SSD.

Not sure what's included software wise, just thinking how much bloatware is included within the factory software.
    Jimmy_Chou's avatar
Why would you want to go to Windows 10 now? It's out of support next year and no real development is going on for it. Windows 11 has massively improved with the last two releases and isn't really any "heavier."

I'd try CEX for a cheap 8GB DIMM.

Where can I find the correct compatible ram for this laptop? Thanks
    NX3's avatar
Crucial UK have a memory matching tool and guarantee comparability

Can I play some games on it.Not the top one, something like counter strike or serious Sam?
I don’t have any knowledge about computers
    thanks in advance
    Jimmy_Chou's avatar
If you upgraded the RAM to dual channel by adding another DIMM then you could play basic games. Counterstrike would work. Just Google the model and find some YouTube videos.

Take a look at this, it is the 12th Gen equivalent but uses the same integrated GPU.

For HUKders low cost laptop would mean sub £100, this is expensive

Was he the one who posted the legendary Dell M2 screw deal?
  12. Eagerbeaver's avatar
As much as I hate the hinge design on this, I find it incredible that you can get a perfectly useable every day laptop which serves the needs of most for less than the price of a half decent second hand phone.
  13. Willy_Wonka's avatar
    Great find.

    Extremely HOT

Great price. The battery may be a concern though. 40wh for a 15.6in screen is quite small, and obviously it varies with device, but I imagine this would have fairly poor battery life
    DuckDuck86's avatar
Hmm the i3 is low power.

It all depends if power saving mode lowers the screen refresh rate tbh

That's a name from the past! He helped provide a couple of great deals for me many years ago!
  16. cheapster0000's avatar
Decent value. My only gripe is the lack of usb c charging.
    Navdanius1's avatar
Usually you can charge via the USB C port anyway?
  17. ashman33's avatar
HP Laptop PC 15s-fq5026sa also looks cheap on Amazon. Are they shifting laptops
  18. kwl147's avatar
Lack of USB C charging, poor webcam, small battery, proprietary barrel charger, cost saving on the processor, and low panel brightness for the screen does hurt the value aspect of the device as well build quality issues with the hinges and the 120hz screen seems out of place for a device like this with no dedicated GPU or storage. Wee bit confusing what they were going for here but perfectly fine for indoor use if someone is willing to either mod it or spec it up for more ram and SSD space.

    Great comment .....thanks

I know the RAM is upgradeable but in this day and age, manufacturers should just be selling everything with 16GB RAM (mainly because browsing the internet has become such a memory hog.
    mossmanfly's avatar
Prices then go up. Tbh 8Gb is perfectly fine for web browsing, watch videos, playing older/less graphic intense games. Majority of people using this laptop probably wouldn't even get to 75% RAM usage, probably more around the 50%, especially if it's just for web browsing.
  20. leafmulch's avatar
120hz screen isn't going to be of use to many, as the CPU won't make use of it in almost all cases. This looks like waste of money through the lens of a well balanced system, but it could be good for some people. I got a chromebook plus for similar money which has a great battery, screen, usb-c etc. albeit only 8gb and I think that's a better option unless you want windows.
    Jimmy_Chou's avatar
What do you mean by that? A high refresh rate isn't just about gaming, 120Hz will be better for scrolling and 24Hz videos.
  21. kaytea's avatar
How would this perform with Lightroom (if I were to install another 8gb RAM, as they only seem to be about £16)?
  22. grimlock's avatar
Given this has gotten hotter than the deal i purchased that for me is still stating June delivery - is it worth me cancelling the order at Dell for this? I can see i'm getting a larger SSD for just less paid but beyond that I probably need the experts to help ...

    hotukdeals.com/dea…042
  23. godzillafan's avatar
Opened up the laptop and this is the memory inside 8GB says 3200 (can anyone confirm)?

and with a slot free for another stick!

The SDD is a Kioxia mini 256gb and there seems to be a bay for a another SSD - next to the battery. Can anyone confirm this?

    yus786's avatar
Yes it does look like it has a 3200mhz ram stick and yes it looks like it has a slot for a 2.5" ssd/hdd. It does have a cable for the SSD but not sure if this is power or data only
  24. grimlock's avatar
can i just check - is this exactly the same laptop here: hotukdeals.com/dea…052
Just so i know as i'd prefer to order from Dell (assuming it's not a long wait like the last order that got cancelled)
    DwarfKingLuke's avatar
No the one you've linked is vastly superior. That one has an I5, 16gb ram 1TB SSD. This one is I3, 8gb ram, 256gb SSD.
  25. Delboyplc's avatar
£349!!!! Was going order one but price seems to be £349 now. So no longer valid deal.
