£27.98 per 4.0Ah Battery with this offer. I've got a few different capacities and typically get through two doing our lawn + using the strimmer on the edges (It's a pretty long garden) Not that there's a lot to go wrong with batteries like this, but I've had no issues.

Although the battery check button confuses the other half sometimes, as ours shows 3 red lights when it's full. Then the 2.5Ah ones have a green light. So sometimes they're mistaken for uncharged ones

Product description
The 2x 18V 4,0 Ah Power X-Change batteries are members of the multifunctional and completely interchangeable Power X-Change rechargeable battery system from Einhell.
The Power X-Change rechargeable batteries can be used universally for supplying power and endurance to every cordless tool from the entire garden and workshop product family.
The advantages to the customer are obvious: A single rechargeable battery and a single charger for all tools not only saves significant costs of buying, universal use helps protect the environment and provides flexibility in the home and garden too.

It also eliminates the untidiness and chaos of having different rechargeable batteries and chargers for each separate tool.

The 18 V 4.0 Ah PXC is a basic rechargeable battery from the Power X-Change family and is also suitable for TWIN-PACK use for 36 V applications. With two 4.0 Ah batteries as TWIN-PACK the working time will be prolonged and the batteries can provide more power (2x 18V = 36V) for power demanding applications.
The ABS process-controlled active battery management system has a microprocessor for permanently monitoring the battery parameters.

It therefore ensures maximum safety, optimum tool performance, maximum operating time and a maximum service life.

The current charge level can be checked on a 3-step LED display.
The housing is designed to be resistant to dust, corrosion and mechanical influences.
The rubber coating provides high impact protection for the battery along with a good grip.

There is a trough handle to enable it to be removed from each tool with ease.

When is that tool battery legislation coming into force?
We need to get rid off manufacturer specific battery packs, it would save consumers so much money.

There’s a thing called the Cordless Alliance System (CAS), but it’s voluntary, I’ve not heard of any legislation to make it law. I think they were too busy telling Apple to swap out the Lightning cable

I’ve seen some less than favourable comments about Einhell, however I have a fair few products from the ecosystem and have never had an issue - I’m just a DIYer and so they’re not used for trade.

I've got a few bits and like them on the budget end. Their cheapest mower could do with a bit more grunt, especially after the Winter and I've not mowed it in a bit. It's fine if you've kept on top of it though.
Their cheapest strimmer (GC-CT 18/24 Li P) is fine too, although it lacks a safety feature. If the battery is attached, you just pull the trigger to fire it up, which requires very little force. I can imagine there being issues if someone just grabs it by the handle without thinking. Wouldn't like to catch anything on it.

I think most would be fine, to be honest. But, I do think it could have been designed a little better, perhaps with one of those button locking systems.

Perhaps it's just me overthinking it, as I've not really seen many mention it?

Would try the higher end stuff, once my current cheap ones are over the rainbow bridge. (edited)

Good deal, RRP seems inflated - Heat.

£64.98 at Toolstation with 5% off currently if your local has stock and you miss the ebay voucher.
