How smart can this actually be with no lidar ?!

I have one, smart is an overstatement, it maps out the floor each time you use it but it uses the usual bumping technique to see if an area is accessible, and it never learns from past sessions. It's only one step up from a dumb robot in that at least you know where it's covered. It also avoids drops and can adjust between carpet and hard floor. But yes, not very smart

I bought the G40 at this price last week and I am happy with it. Who needs smart? it goes everywhere, I see no need for LIDAR. Yup it bumps every time, I'm fine with that
ps very small hopper for dirt, needs regular emptying, and I forgot the little sweeper brush first time, much better now (edited)

A better question is, what reason is there *not* to have lidar?

Can’t really go wrong with a Eufy. Fantastic customer service if you do have issues as well.

I think I'd rather pay double this for one that has Lidar, a mop and auto empty. Feels like a false economy scrimping on a robot cleaner that does a half job poorly.
