I have had this saw for around 5 years, paid about fifty quid I think, would recommend for most small jobs, can cut 3" posts if you spin them, can cut aluminium profiles no bother (like tile trims) I'm on my second blade so not bad at all.

It is not heavy duty, and it is not accurate. If you want a square cut you can not rely on the indicator gauges, you have to do a couple of trial cuts to dial it in. But all in all a good saw for the brass.

I've had one since last year.
I'm very impressed for the price.

I'd also recommend checking that it's square before making any cuts. (edited)

This only has blade with 20 teeth, which I would say is a bit too course for good cuts across the grain (usual type for mitre).

Also like all Evolution mitre saws seemingly, the blade bore size is 25.4mm rather than the usual 30mm.

If you look on Toolstation, Screwfix etc you will find that this restricts supply to just a few higher price replacement blades.

Interesting info, thanks. Looks like the track saw is the same. Considering getting both, looks like a finer tooth saw, say 80, might be £18 or so, not too bad I guess if it could be used across two saws.

It seems with the track saws you don't see better products until you're almost into Festool type price range.

Usefully sized for lugging around and storing, toy-town clamp for the wood that if you chuck it will let you cut slightly thicker wood, mine started killing the bearings after a few years so I treated myself to a £85 slider from Wickes, which I would rate as vastly superior (Wickes brand, sale price comes and goes). Fifty quid max on this one, I'd say, preferably £45.

Had one a few years and it's been treated rough.. cutting up old pallets with nails in for up-cycling and fire wood and it's still going strong with original blade!

The track saw is on a decent offer too by the looks of it.

A few jobs in mind for both really, but cutting down 100mm square fence posts is one. Whilst I'm sure I could do it with the track saw, I'm sure it'd be easier with this.

I''ve got about 40m2 of engineered wood flooring to install next month. Is this thing going to be ok for that or should I get something else?

    Grateful for any advice

How wide are the planks, you may be better off with a sliding saw and a blade with more teeth to get best finish?
